About the Role

 

We are seeking an experienced Boilermaker/Welder to join the team at our Pigment Plant in Australind, located on Old Coast Road in the idyllic South West of WA.

 

This position will be offered on a full time, permanent basis, working a 38-hour week compressed into a 9-day fortnight, every second Friday off! Hang up the FIFO boots and enjoy every weekend off and be home every night! Work hours are 6:00am- 3:00pm.

 

You will be accountable for the maintenance, service and repair of fixed plant and equipment in accordance with standards and procedures at the TiO2 refinery.

 

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, site conditions, and verbal instructions to scope job requirements.

  • Perform fault finding, installation, preventive maintenance, and repair of plant and equipment across site.

  • Monitor and inspect operating equipment to detect faults and ensure proper functioning.

  • Assemble and install machinery and equipment according to layout plans and manufacturer specifications.

  • Redesign or modify existing metal structures to meet updated specifications or safety standards.

  • Plan and discuss fabrication details, including material selection and welding techniques.

  • Measure, cut, shape, and weld steel and other metals using MIG, TIG, stick welding, etc.

  • Operate fabrication machinery such as plasma cutters, grinders, and presses.

  • Conduct tests and inspections to verify the performance and safety of machinery and fabricated components.

  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and site regulations.

  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure efficient and safe operations. 

 

 To be successful in your application, you will ideally possess:

 

  • Fabrication Trade qualification (Boilermaker), or an equivalent Certificate III in Engineering.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a cohesive, multi-trade maintenance team

  • Previous experience gained within a complex fixed plant processing environment such as a smelter, chemical plant or refinery

  • A Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.

  • Excellent attention to detail and precision.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
