Job Responsibilities
- Oversees and assists team members in assigned functional area, which may include but not limited to, ensuring team is meeting key-deliverables and quality standards, addressing and resolving challenges, managing and tracking performance, and assisting in time management and scheduling; escalates issues to senior leaders as needed.
- Assists with personnel functions on Mobile Blood Drives and at Fixed Site Donor Centers to include leadership and direct supervision of daily staff performance and competency; Provides on-site blood drive management to ensure seamless high quality blood drive.
- Interfaces with mobile staff, Donor Specialists and Drivers daily to ensure successful outcome of mobile drive; Ensures adequate coverage of team members to effectively manage workload/workflow; Ensures all staff arrives on time at mobile drives and donor centers and all required equipment is available and in good working order.
- Supervises staff's work assignment based on experience to routinely ensure work completed with minimal assistance; Monitors complaints monthly; Serves as a liaison between the Mobile Blood Drive Account Managers, Mobile Blood Drive Coordinators and Donor Center Account Manager (proper directions, forecast, and hours) Identify successes and changes that need to be made for next blood drive or donor shift by providing documentation on daily summary report form from blood drive coordinator and donor center
- Participate in monthly Team Leader, monthly collections meeting Team Leader/Recruitment meeting.
- Provides technical expertise and organization in order to ensure accurate and efficient operations; Works with QA to validate equipment and SOPs; Maintain all QC and maintenance of equipment; Complies with safety policies and procedures in the work area and use applicable protective equipment at all times to prevent exposure to potentially infectious blood and body fluids.
- Help train new/incumbent Donor/Apheresis Specialists as needed to ensure competency, compliance, and good customer service; Acts as preceptor for new donor specialists by modeling clinical skills and service excellence, utilizing direct observation of the trainee as required.
- Assists with the development, and documentation of employee training and/or competency testing. Demonstrate high standard of competency and safe performance for staff on blood drive measured by monthly review of customer service reports and health Care Event Description report by Quality Assurance Specialist; Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with team members to optimize job performance and foster working relationships. Guides lower level Donor Specialist on how to enhance the team for optimal blood collections by IBDS.
- Participates in professional growth opportunities to enhance personal, team; Participates in team target interviewing for new employees and ensures successful onboarding of new staff.
- Provides feedback to leader for staff performance evaluations; Communicates appropriate information of performance issues and implements solutions.
- Leads and/or actively participates in Quality Improvement projects and Employee Engagement thereby enhancing team departmental development and hospital and system goals.
- Participates and helps prepare collection teams members for self and on-site inspections by participating in clinical practice teams; Educates team members to accept accountability for achievement of collection and customer service and goals.
- Leads and/or actively participates in Quality Improvement projects and Employee Engagement thereby enhancing team departmental development and hospital and system goals; Provides constructive feedback and positive reinforcement to team members.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.
