AS400 Senior Technical Specialist

Job Summary
The Senior Technical Specialist for AS400 is responsible for overseeing the technical aspects and operations related to the AS400 system. They will be in charge of ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and security of the AS400 system within the organization. (1.) Key Responsibilities
1. Manage and maintain the as400 system, including system upgrades, patches, and configurations.
2. Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues or errors that arise within the as400 environment.
3. Collaborate with cross functional teams to integrate as400 with other systems and applications.
4. Conduct regular system performance monitoring and capacity planning to ensure efficient operation.
5. Implement and maintain security protocols and procedures to safeguard the as400 system from potential threats.
6. Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior team members and stakeholders on as400related matters.
7. Develop and maintain documentation related to as400 configurations, processes, and procedures.

Skill Requirements
1. Strong experience in as400 system administration, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
2. Proficient in programming languages used in as400, such as rpg (report program generator) and cl (control language).
3. In-depth knowledge of as400 hardware, software, and utilities.
4. Familiarity with database management systems on as400, preferably ibm db2.
5. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues.
6. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
7. Detail oriented and proactive in identifying and addressing system improvements and enhancements.

Certifications: IBM Certified Specialist AS/400 Professional is preferred.
