Summary of Job Purpose

 

 

The rental shop is a fast-paced and dynamic work environment with flexible hours. Rental Shop staff is responsible for creating a well organized and efficient equipment rental process for our guests. Staff duties include adjusting ski and snowboard bindings, boot fitting, inventory control, rental equipment maintenance, shoveling snow, as well as a variety of other tasks or projects. This position requires constant guest interaction. Applicants must possess a positive attitude and work well with others in a sometimes stressful environment.

This is an entry level position requiring a basic understanding of skiing and snowboarding equipment.  This position requires a detailed oriented individual that excels in excellent guest service, willingness to learn technical aspects of skiing and snowboarding equipment and an appreciation for the winter sports.    Individuals must be 18 or older to qualify for alpine ski binding certification.  

 

Examples of Duties

  1. Adjust Alpine Ski and Snowboard bindings to manufacture’s requirements/ specifications
  2. Instruct Guests on the proper use of all Rental Equipment
  3. Efficiently process Guests through the Rental Center by properly fitting rental Ski or Snowboard boots and identify proper equipment sizing to maximize the Guest’s experience.
  4. Works with co-workers in a positive, cooperative, and team oriented manner; ability and willingness to interact with customers in the same manner
  5. Maintain and organize equipment inventory
  6. Keep facilities clean and safe of hazards
  7. Assist with outdoor and indoor ski check 
  8. Assist with outdoor mountain host duties 
  9. Remove snow, snow shoveling and deicing walkways
  10. Operate small tools and powered equipment including screw drivers, drills, belt waxer and vacuum cleaner
  11. Assist in function testing and equipment repair
  12. Attend weekly safety meetings
  13. Adhere to posted weekly work schedule and be prepared to begin work at scheduled time
  14. Maintain a clean and professional appearance
  15. Assist with other departments and duties as requested  

 

 

Job Qualifications

 

 

  • Ability to communicate verbally and write in English 
  • Ability to write neatly and legibly 
  • Must be 18 years or older to obtain manufacture binding certificate
  • Ability and willingness to be consultative, to follow directions, and follow through in a timely and complete manner on tasks and assignments
  • Ability to successfully pass a comprehensive background check
  • Be able to lift heavy and awkward items (up to 50 lbs.) and be able to walk on uneven ground.

Work Schedules

 

 

Weather conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Dodge Ridge employees.

 

When conditions are normal, you may be expected to work 40 up to 48 hours per week, including weekends and holidays.  During busy periods, you may be expected to work six (6) days a week.

 

You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time.  Keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snowpacked, and icy road surfaces.

 

Work Schedule

This is a season position.  In-season work scheduling is dynamic and dependent upon business levels. 

Typical work schedule start time is 7:30AM Saturdays, 8AM Sunday- Friday.  Scheduled work day hours vary from 2 hours to 10 hours dependent on business levels.

 

 

Working Conditions

 

 

At any time during the ski season, Dodge Ridge employees are often required to perform their tasks in high winds, heavy snowfalls, low visibility, rain, and extremely cold or warm temperatures.

 

Work is typically performed indoors working directly with resort guests and other resort staff members and it can be noisy. At times, you may be expected to work outside were it can be cold, wet, or humid.   There is also the possibility of working around moving objects and occasionally may be required to assist with snow removal using a snow shovel

 

 

Uniforms

 

 

A professional appearance at Dodge Ridge is required.   Please wear your name tag and uniform at all times during your scheduled shift.  We will provide most of the uniform for you to do your job.  However, you will be required to provide some items as part of your job, as listed below.  The quality, color, and style of the items must be approved by your manager prior to being worn to work.  All hats worn must have the Dodge Ridge logo while on shift.

Winter Gloves

 

 

 

The skiing/riding employee represents a model for safe skiing for both the guest and fellow employees.  You are required to be aware of all safe skiing procedures, trail closures, and out-of-bounds policies.
