Job Summary

 

The Accounting Assistant processes and monitors payments and expenditures, ensures finances are accurate and current, and vendors are paid within established time limits. The Accounting Assistant follows district, state, and federal regulations pertaining to fiscal and accounting requirements. 

 

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Job-related education necessary to perform the essential job duties is typically consistent with graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • Courses in accounting preferred but not required. 
  • Two years experience in accounting, cash handling or similar job role.

12 months / 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. / 40 hours per week

Examination process: Completed applications are reviewed and candidates who meet the minimum qualifications participate in an examination process. Exam Components consist of a Multiple choice test (weight: 20%), a Performance test (weight: 30%), and a Qualifications Appraisal Interview (weight: 50%).
 
The competitive basis for this recruitment is established as open/promotional-dual certification: candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and pass the exams are placed on an eligibility list. The list is used to fill current and future vacancies for six months.
 
Veterans may be eligible for preference points on examinations. Please attach a copy of your DD214 to your application.
 
Employment with San Dieguito Union High School District is contingent upon successful completion of post-offer background check, fingerprinting, physical exam including tuberculosis, drug and alcohol screening, and an Oath of Allegiance. 
 
The probationary period for a new or promotional employee is six months or 130 days of paid service, whichever is longer.
