Your area of work:

We have an opportunity for a legal counsel to join the central legal department of Deutsche Börse Group working in the Post-Trading Legal team. You contribute to the Group’s business success by being a member of a legal team providing dedicated legal advice to the Central Securities Depository Clearstream with a focus on Securities Services and in particular issuance, settlement and custody of securities. The core of the activities is to act as legal contact for Clearstream business in Germany and abroad as well as identification of legal risks with a view to design and implement measures to reduce and/or manage those risks, while working closely with peers and different stakeholders throughout the organization locally and globally. 

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Provide legal assessments and advice to various stakeholders within the organization
  • Advise on and coordinate legal tasks in relation to local cross-border projects
  • Draft, amend and review agreements including negotiation of such agreements with Clearstream customers or other contractual partners
  • Support the business regarding implementation of requirements pursuant to new laws and regulations
  • Assist in the development and implementation of technical solutions within the organization
  • Provide legal input to and represent the legal function at various boards and other internal committees
  • Communicate on all levels of the organization including senior management

 

Your profile:

  • Fully qualified German lawyer with judicial state exams above average
  • 2-4 years of professional experience in a law firm or as an in-house legal counsel, preferably with relation to the financial industry
  • Experience in securities issuance, settlement and custody, other securities services, lending/collateral management, investment fund distribution or asset management will be considered an asset, but is not necessarily required
  • Knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory environment; interest in technical development and innovations in the financial sector
  • Excellent analytical skills and motivation to become familiar with unknown and complex topics
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels in an international organization, including senior management
  • Ability to cope with challenges; international mindset
  • Excellent written and spoken English and German; any additional language will be considered an asset
