Job Summary

 

Freeport LNG, a leading force in the global LNG market, is excited to launch its Summer Internship Program. Internship opportunities exist at our Terminal locations in Quintana, TX. Students can apply for internships focused on Engineering or. Projects The 2026 Summer Internship Program will last for 12 weeks and will run from late May to early August. Students will work with managers, provide support to their departments, interact with employees, vendors, and team members. The internship will focus on supporting various initiatives, department objectives, and impactful projects. Interns will also work closely with a mentor for the duration of the program.  At the conclusion of the internship program, students will deliver a presentation to senior leadership highlighting the projects they worked on. 

Duties/Responsibilities

 

Engineering
The successful candidates will work as a key member in one of the engineering groups focused on electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or instrumentation & controls engineering.


Possible work includes:

  • Provide day to day technical service, project management, engineering design, reports, modeling, and analysis. 
  • Interface with operations, maintenance, commercial and other personnel. 
  • Participate in site safety activities. 

    
Projects
The successful candidate will engage and partner on Capital projects, work in a cross functional team environment, and build relationships with subcontractors and project team members. 


Possible work includes:

  • Participate in PFD, P&ID, and HAZOP reviews. Participate in Model and pre-start up reviews. 
  • Participate in commissioning, start-up, and post start-up activities. 
  • Assist in trouble shooting and providing post start-up support. 
  • Participate in site safety activities.

Essential Functions

Minimum Qualification/Work Experience

•    Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis 
•    Pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering,, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation,  or equivalent
•    Current level in college: Sophomore through Senior or Graduate Student
•    Expected graduation date: Fall 2026 through Spring/Fall 2028
•    A minimum of ten (10) continuous weeks availability for internship

HSE Roles and Responsibilities

Support the policies, efforts, and programs of Freeport LNG Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System. Actively participate in the HSE and Process Safety Management System Policies.  Ensure that HSE concerns are given priority in all activities completed within their area of responsibility.  Implement routine inspections to ensure safe operating conditions.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Roles may be operating in a professional office environment within or outside of an industrial plant environment.  At times role may need to walk through areas of the facility. The incumbent must be able to stand and/or sit continuously to perform all essential job functions. 


•    Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers w/scanner and fax, and filing cabinets.
•    While performing the duties of this role, the incumbent may be required to possess certain communication skills, i.e. audible speech, hearing, etc. and may be required to express or exchange information by means of spoken word to impart oral information counterparts and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately.
•    The incumbent is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls as necessary to perform essential job functions.
•    The incumbent must possess the ability to drive to other Company work locations as required.
