Description: 

The Assistant Manager supports the daily operations of the Juilliard Store by overseeing part-time staff, coordinating inventory and merchandising, and ensuring smooth customer service experiences. This role partners closely with management to implement procedures, delegate projects, and maintain operational excellence across sales, facilities, order fulfillment, and POS systems. The Assistant Manager serves as the primary point of contact for part-time employees, provides customer issue resolution, and communicates feedback to management. Additional responsibilities include managing inventory levels, processing purchase orders, supporting events, and maintaining store communications. Weekend coverage is required in coordination with the General Manager to ensure consistent leadership presence.

The salary range for this role is $60,000-$62,900 annually, based on skills and experience.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Partners with managers to implement store procedures, leading and delegating tasks and projects to part-time staff.
  • Manages and leads part-time employees through store operations, including restocking, merchandising, facilities requests, order fulfillment, customer service, and POS procedures.
  • Oversees sales floor and back-stock areas, managing staff performance, inventory, shrinkage, and daily cash flow tasks.
  • Maintains shipping supplies and supports order fulfillment as needed.
  • Manages the [email protected] inbox, responding to inquiries and delegating tasks appropriately.
  • Serves as primary support for part-time employees, resolving customer issues requiring managerial assistance.
  • Provides ongoing feedback from customers and staff to management.
  • Monitors inventory levels throughout store spaces, coordinates and leads efficient merchandise receiving and processing with part-time staff support.
  • Independently manages Saturdays, Summer Fridays, and peak high-volume retail days in the absence of other full-time staff, while maintaining a standard 40-hour workweek (32 hours during the Summer Friday season, with scheduled days off pre-approved by the General Manager).
  • Assists with reorders and purchase order processing, ensuring accuracy of all PO details.
  • Plans and executes in-store and off-site events as needed.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in Music or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years specialty retail management experience
  • Proven ability to lead teams and resolve customer and staff issues
  • Composure and adaptability in fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
  • Proficiency in retail operations and POS systems
  • Commitment to exceptional customer service
  • Collaborative leadership style with ability to motivate teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

Preferred Attributes:

  • Visual merchandising expertise
  • Familiarity with books, sheet music, and musical scores
  • College or bookstore management experience
