About the Department
The Adult Volleyball Sports Official is responsible for officiating for all levels of competition within our recreational programs. Sports officials are expected to achieve a level of competence in their specific sport(s). Further, they are to comply with all policies and procedures of the Recreation Department.
Tuesday and Thursday evenings 6:00pm-10:00pm
September 23rd through December 11th, 2025
Position Duties

General Duties:
Maintain a safe, yet competitive environment for all involved. Promote positive sportsmanship
Assists in field/court set-up and take down as needed. Including examining facilities/area/court for safety hazards before the start of games.
Assist or take the lead with documenting and reporting incidents, accidents, ejections, and injuries with players, coaches, or spectators to the Supervisor within 24 hours.
Ensure safety of staff, participants, and coaches/managers.
Effectively communicate with teams, coaches, spectators, and staff.
Provide training, guidance, and oversight to youth officials and sports official (youth).
Complies with City and County policies, procedures, and standards.
Attends/completes required CCOB training and athletic meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATION:
2 seasons experience officiating - required.
4 seasons experience at a competitive level (high school or beyond) playing or coaching - required.
Must possess valid AED, First Aid and CPR certifications within 90 days of hire.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, background checks including local police check and sex-offender registry.
Must be 18 years of age.
Must possess a First Aid/CPR certification within 90 days of hire, and maintained for continued employment.

Physical demands are described as medium (exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects).
Work is scheduled for a variety of hours including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Must provide a safe and enjoyable environment for the participant during instruction which includes a full range of physical abilities including: performing and maintaining aerobic exercise, bending, stretching, and lifting minimal weight.
Working in the Recreation Division may require indoor and outdoor activities.
Required to walk, jog, run, sprint, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or equipment.
Required to hear; stand; bend or twist from the upper body; use hands and/or feet to perform manual tasks
Visual abilities including close, distant, depth, peripheral are required.
