Occupational Therapist – Acute Care – Travel Position

Pay: $2,425/week

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join an acute care facility in Hattiesburg, MS on a 13-week travel assignment. The Occupational Therapist will provide patient-centered rehabilitative services to individuals recovering from illness, surgery, or injury in a fast-paced hospital setting. The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail-oriented, and experienced in acute care therapy.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess patients’ functional, cognitive, and therapy needs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
• Provide acute care interventions such as ADL retraining, neuromuscular re-education, strengthening, and mobility support.
• Educate patients and caregivers on therapy goals, adaptive strategies, and safe use of assistive devices.
• Document evaluations, treatment sessions, and progress notes accurately and in compliance with facility and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with nursing, physical therapy, and speech therapy teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Support patient recovery, independence, and quality of life through evidence-based OT practices.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current and valid OT license in Mississippi (or compact eligibility).
• Minimum 1 year of recent OT experience; acute care experience preferred.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and documentation skills.
• Compassionate and adaptable approach with experience treating diverse patient populations.
• COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.
