DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities of the bar staff to retain a motivated, professional workforce for Shooting Star Casino, Hotel & Event Center.
• Communicates job responsibilities and performance expectations to assure mutual understanding of desired results.
• Assesses Team Member performance, provides positive and constructive feedback on an ongoing basis to reinforce desired results.
• Conducts Team Member coaching sessions when Team Members performance warrant such session.
• Completes Team Member performance reviews in a timely manner.
• Identifies training and/or development opportunities that will assist the Team Member in achieving enhanced job performance and/or career objectives.
• Verify hours worked for assigned Team Members and authorized wages paid.
Monitors the performance of bar staff on a daily basis to maintain a high level of guest satisfaction.
• Instruct, assigns and directs work by maximizing the performance of Team Members and equipment.
• Recognizes the important relationships between rewards, reinforcement and results.
• Take prompt measures to prevent performance and behavior problems by disciplining inappropriate behavior.
• Assist with addressing complaints of Team Members with guidance or refer to proper resources.
• Assist with marketing promotions.
• Strives to make more meaningful and challenging contributions to the betterment of the department.
PAPERWORK
Ensures administrative paperwork/reports are completed accurately and timely.
• Ensures Team Members calendars are kept current.
• Counseling guides.
• Research “Procedural Discrepancy Reports” and responds to department management and accounting department.
• Ensures adequate stock levels of product are available; checks requisition forms to ensure product was delivered.
• Write accurate reports pertaining to incidents involving cut-offs or negative interactions involving guest service.
• Sign transfers and give release/start date for Team Members.
• Complete schedules bi-weekly for Team Members.
POS System
Operates Point of Sale (cash register) system with knowledge and accuracy to ensure proper accounting and casino policies and procedures are followed.
• Operate Point of Sale (cash register) system to record transactions, collect payment (credit cards, cash, room charges, tokens, marketing coupons, etc.) and make change correctly for drinks directly served to guests.
• Ensure proper cash handling techniques and balancing of monies during and at end of shift.
• Ensures order receipt is received from server prior to preparing server beverages.
• Ensure all sales are entered at time of preparation/order.
HEALTH SANITIZED PROCEDURES
Maintain sanitized procedures according to I.H.S. (Indian Health Services) standards.
• Follows departmental sanitization procedures. Ex. Test strips, towels in sanitized water, ice scoops, etc.
• Maintain table and bar appearance by pre-busing, checking drink levels, changing ashtrays, removing clutter, and providing napkins.
• Ensures assigned area is stocked and cleaned throughout and at the end of shift.
• Proper rotation of product to avoid expiration and restocks bar items in the absence of bar-runner.
• Report any unsafe working conditions to immediate Supervisor.
Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
One-year certificate from college or technical school: or minimum of 1-year related experience and/ or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & DESIGNATIONS
Must meet the requirements as prescribed by the Tribal-State compact for Gaming.
Must be 18 years of age prior to employment to meet statue guidelines.
Must be able to get ServSafe certified.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Skill in basic math functions.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of guest or other Team Members of the organization.

• Knowledge of robbery policy and procedure.
• Knowledge of severe weather policy and procedure.
• Knowledge of promotional programs offered by the Shooting Star.
• Knowledge of all departmental and casino policy and procedures.
• Knowledge of casino layout to direct guest.
• Knowledgeable skills on handling difficult and disgruntled guests.
• Knowledge of product and prices to answer questions.
• Knowledge of bar products and equipment.
• Skill of developing and maintaining positive relationships with external and internal guest.
• Knowledge of and skill in using the micro (cash register) system.
• Ability to mix drinks according to established procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or scheduled form.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations.
• Ability to identify counterfeit money.
• Knowledge of locations of panic button (hold up alarm) fire extinguishers, fire exits and emergency procedures.
• Ability to follow proper cash handling techniques.
• Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
• Ability to follow procedures and give attention to detail.
• Ability to stand during entire 6–8-hour shift.
• Ability to reach, bend, and stoop.
• Ability to make repetitive hand motions.
• Skill in basic math functions.
• Ability to frequently lift/carry up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to occasionally lift/carry greater than 25 pounds.
• Ability to frequently climb stairs.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Work is performed in a bar setting where the noise level varies from moderate to very loud, according to assigned shift and business level.
• Hazards include, but not limited to, cut from broken glass, burns, slipping and tripping.
• Vision abilities required by this position include the ability to adjust focus.
• Continuous exposure to high concentration levels of tobacco smoke.
• Occasional exposure to blood borne pathogens.
• Occasional exposure to dangerous cleaning chemicals.
