The Salvation Army (Salvos) provides a wide range of services that support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer accommodation, counselling, support, behavioural programs, and advice to women and children at risk of, experiencing or escaping family violence. Our services focus on prevention, restoration, and healing to provide specialised support to address immediate safety issues and provide advice, referrals, and connection to assist the recovery journey.
About the role
As a Senior Specialist Family Violence Practitioner, this is your opportunity to works with adults and children victim survivors who have experienced or are experiencing family violence. You will provide a welcoming and accessible environment that is safe and supportive to individual needs.
Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a fixed-term position, offering full-time hours until June 2026.
How you will make an impact
Effective relationships are established with clients that encourage self-determination and participation and uphold the principles of the National Family Violence Model of Care.
Specialist FV Case management and crisis support is provided to clients in accordance with TSA case management models and standards of practice
Ongoing assessment is made of the victim survivor’s issues, needs and circumstances from initial intake to exit
Conduct ongoing family and domestic violence risk assessment and safety planning with clients using agreed tools
Individual case plans are developed in collaboration with victim survivors and include a range of interventions that address the needs or goals of clients
Case plans are implemented and actively led by the victim survivor
What you will bring
A tertiary qualification in Social Work is essential.
Experience working in the family violence sector is desirable.
Experience in specialist family violence and/ or child wellbeing work is highly desirable
Demonstrated case management experience and skills
Highly developed time management and work prioritisation skills with an ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision required
Advance computer skills including experience in data and record management
Relevant child protection requirements are obtained for example Working with children check.
A national police record check is required
Ability and willingness to be on call
