POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Team Lead, the Painter is responsible for routine and preventative maintenance painting duties within the manufacturing plant, including a full range of specialized painting projects. These include but are not limited to; painting large structures, perform inspections, cleanups, proper storage and disposal of paint products and operating various tools and equipment.
1st shift Monday - Friday
6:00am - 2:00pm
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Bring parts to the workstation and wash / dry metal parts as required to prepare for painting.
2. Process products through the powder coating paint system, including cleaning, painting, and curing operations quickly and efficiently with strong attention to detail and quality.
3. May regulate and operate baking or drying ovens, prepare surfaces for cleaning, filling, etc.
4. Paint completed cylinders by applicable work instructions and customer requirements.
5. Thin paints and mix properly to spray coatings. Adjust equipment to obtain the finish requirements and optimize paint economy.
6. Maintain and keep equipment and area in a safe, clean condition and working order.
7. Work assignments are subject to process checks and final inspection.
8. Control and prepare for disposal of toxic elements.
9. Assist with the development of more efficient manufacturing methods and procedures.
10. Place newly received soft goods, etc. into the proper storage location(s).
11. Obtain shop packet and review contents
12. Pull all software components for loading parts and seal kits.
13. Check print for proper installation of components.
14. Contact proper personnel when there are discrepancies between parts and prints.
15. Assemble / test cylinder products.
16. Check and maintain wash solutions at the various locations in the press area and assembly department.
17. Remove cylinders from the paint dry line, prepare the required shipping containers and pre-package for shipment.
MARGINAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Place completed assemblies into a clean, chip-free basket and properly identify
2. Report any shortages to the proper personnel
3. Follow all safety rules while performing job functions
4. Must be able to hang their own parts
5. Must be able to operate forklift
6. Must be able to order their own paint gun parts if needed
7. Distill M.E.K
8. Order paint and supplies
9. Clean wash tanks filters and add chemicals when necessary
10. Change paint boot filters and light plastics
11. May need to hand wash parts as needed
12. Clean and grease chains and track on paint line
13. Willing to work overtime as needed
14. Knowledge of ‘5S’ and lean manufacturing practices helpful
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. High school education or equivalent
2. Experience working in a manufacturing facility
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
1. Painting experience is a plus, 2-5 years
2. Must be able to mix paints and catalyst
3. Must be able to pass and hold respirator qualifications
4. Must be clean shaven as to not interfere with respirator
5. Must have knowledge how to mask off product
6. Must know how to read and understand blueprints
7. Knowledge of how to repair guns and paint pots
8. Must know how to measure Mil thickness
9. Must have an eye for detail
10. Strong working knowledge of job site safety as well as ability to complete a company specific safety orientation
