Description

 The Maintenance Manager at Tangent is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the maintenance department within our manufacturing facility. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Maintenance Manager will lead a team of maintenance engineers, planners, schedulers and technicians to ensure the smooth operation of all plant equipment and machinery. The primary focus will be on both preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and immediate, day-to-day support to address any production-related issues.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preventive Maintenance: Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to maximize equipment uptime and extend the lifespan of machinery. Ensure that all maintenance activities are scheduled, tracked, and completed on time.
  • Day-to-Day Support: Provide immediate support for all production-related maintenance issues, ensuring quick response and resolution to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, train, and develop a team of maintenance engineers and technicians. Foster a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and teamwork. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback and development opportunities.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies. Promote a safe working environment and implement best practices to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Resource Management: Manage the maintenance department's budget, including the procurement of spare parts, tools, and equipment. Monitor inventory levels to ensure necessary parts are on hand to support maintenance activities.
  • Equipment Management: Oversee the installation, repair, and maintenance of all plant equipment and machinery. Collaborate with production and engineering teams to support new equipment installation and process improvements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving maintenance processes an procedures. Implement lean manufacturing and reliability-centered maintenance practices to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the maintenance team.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, equipment history, and compliance documentation. Use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track work orders, inventory, and performance metrics.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Manufacturing Plant Manager and other department leaders to align maintenance activities with production goals and objectives. Support cross-functional initiatives to improve plant performance

Requirements

 

  • Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience leading and developing a team of maintenance professionals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to respond quickly to maintenance issues.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities. · Knowledge of safety regulations and experience implementing safety practices. 
  • Familiarity with CMMS software and maintenance management best practices. · Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Manager or in a similar leadership role within a manufacturing environment 
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) would be a plus 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
