Based in Brisbane, you’ll work closely with the Regional Rollingstock Engineering Team, which supports maintenance activities across depots located in Cairns, Rockhampton, and Brisbane. Your role will focus on improving fleet performance, supporting maintenance teams, and contributing to engineering solutions that keep our trains running safely and efficiently.


This is a full-time position, fixed term until 31st of December 2027.

About the Role


As a Graduate Electrical Engineer you will be working with a wide range of electrical, electronic, and software systems including locomotive traction and control systems, that will involve design work, investigations and root cause analysis, and maintenance modifications that will provide and give you a strong understanding of engineering fundamentals along with  skills in critical thinking, solving complex problems , communication, collaboration and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.

 

Position Description

 

In this role, you’ll:


•    Assist with research, reporting, and technical tasks to support day-to-day operations.
•    Contribute to team projects and initiatives that align with business goals.
•    Communicate effectively with internal teams and stakeholders to support engineering outcomes.
•    Participate in graduate program activities including rotations, workshops, and development modules.
•    Engage in mentoring and performance reviews to build technical and professional capability.
•    Carry out additional tasks as required by supervisors or management.

 

What You’ll Bring


To be considered, you’ll need a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or be nearing completion of your studies. 


 
We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:


•    A sound understanding of engineering principles and the ability to apply them to solve practical problems.
•    Working knowledge of computer control systems and engineering software tools.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports and documentation.
•    An interest in rail signalling systems and a proactive attitude to learning in a safety-focused environment.
