Your future role

"Take on a new challenge and apply your extensive transportation and leadership expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside dedicated and collaborative teammates.
You'll drive the seamless coordination and performance of SunRail’s train operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and exceptional service delivery. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Operations Subcontractor, host railways, rail traffic control centers), oversee and manage the 24/7 dispatching center, and much more."

We’ll look to you for:

  • Leading the seamless coordination and performance of SunRail’s train operations to ensure safety, efficiency, and exceptional service delivery. ,

  • Participating in and occasionally leading meetings with customers concerning all aspects of railroad operations. ,

  • Engaging in daily interaction with tenant railroads and their leadership to coordinate movements of their trains. ,

  • Preparing reports documenting on-time performance, incident response, efficiency testing, and other operational metrics as required. ,

  • Completing monthly 217 testing across all shifts of the dispatchers and participating in testing with other crafts alongside state and federal testing partners. ,

  • Filling in for the Chief Transportation Officer as needed. ,

  • Collaborating with teams across the business, including Operations Subcontractors, host railways, and rail traffic control centers. ,

  • Ensuring compliance with Title 49 CFR rules and regulations in the passenger rail industry. ,

  • Managing complex administrative tasks and assets to support smooth operations. ,

  • Promoting a culture of continuous learning, adaptability, and resilience within your team."


All about you

  • Degree in Transportation Management, Business Administration, or a related field, is preferred. ,

  • 8 years of experience or understanding of railway operations, including roles such as Dispatcher, Conductor, and Locomotive Engineer. ,

  • Knowledge of Title 49 CFR rules and regulations in the passenger rail industry. ,

  • Familiarity with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. ,

  • Strong communication and leadership skills. ,

  • Experience in managing complex administrative departments and assets. ,

  • Proven ability to coordinate and lead teams in high-pressure environments.
