About the Role:
Wing is looking for a Materials Manager to join our Direct Sourcing team. This role will be based in India. This position seeks highly motivated individuals who enjoy working in a highly dynamic team environment. The successful candidate is able to demonstrate the ability to oversee the end-to-end materials management process, maintain inventory accuracy, optimize material flow, for the direct hardware that goes into Wing’s delivery drones. We’re looking for people who are driven to create robust and dynamic supply chains in a fast paced environment for future scalability and growth.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of logistics, inventory control best practices, and a passion for contributing to innovative technologies within a dynamic and fast paced environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive global materials management strategy with strategic suppliers and contract manufacturers.
- Manage and own the relationships with material suppliers, overseeing procurement, ensuring timely delivery, and negotiating favorable terms.
- Be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels across all locations, implementing inventory control processes, and minimizing waste and E&O.
- Partner closely with Engineering, Operations, and Logistics teams on material specifications, forecasting, and supply chain planning.
- Develop and implement robust material tracking and management systems to ensure visibility and accountability.
- Continuously improve material handling and storage processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Engage cross-functional and cross-business partners to develop innovative solutions for material sourcing, storage, and distribution.
- Build detailed project plans and timelines to ensure timely material availability for operational needs and expansion projects.
- Effectively communicate material status updates to key stakeholders, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.
- Assist and drive capacity planning and implementation at contract manufacturers and downstream suppliers.
What You’ll Need:
- 5+ years of relevant experience in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or closely related fields complemented by relevant practical experience.
- Experience in large scale manufacturing or logistics-intensive industries is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing efficient materials management strategies and processes, including inventory optimization and supplier management.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, material CTB reports, identify trends, and develop actionable insights to improve material flow and reduce costs.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential material-related challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and build strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Operations, and Finance.
- Adaptability and resilience to thrive in a dynamic and rapidly growing organization, with a willingness to embrace change and learn quickly.
- Experience working in multinational environments and with global supply chains is a significant plus.
- Proficiency in utilizing ERP or MRP systems for inventory management and procurement.
