Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, related technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • 15 years of experience in engineering/operational leadership
  • Experience leading technical organizations in on-prem, distributed systems environments
  • Experience deploying and operating hardware and software within on-premise environments

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with partners and developing relationships
  • Experience with cloud services and platform development
  • Ability to simply explain complex business or technical challenges
  • Proven track record of “big picture” strategy thinking, enabling teams to deliver management solutions that are effective at scale

We are creating AI capabilities and enabling modernization with a Kubernetes base that is consistent and has an open developer experience from edge to cloud that serve government and enterprise customers across the globe.

As Director, Operational Tools & Enablement for GDC, the goal is to deliver an operations platform that enables customers to simply and securely manage their on-premise infrastructure. This is for both air-gapped and connected. Unlike other cloud platforms where customer on-call operations are provided by the cloud provider, for GDC, operations is a fundamental aspect of the product offering.

In this role, you will lead an organization of SWEs that develop operational tools and services that are part of the product we ship to customers/MGPs/SIs. You will also lead a team of SWEs and SDEs who provide 24x7 support to our customers/partners.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $294,000-$414,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead a software engineering team that develops operational tools and services that are part of the products we ship, acting as first level of escalation. Be responsible for delivering the operations platform that enables customers to simply and securely manage their on-prem infrastructure.
  • Build product experiences, training, tools, and processes for customers to successfully operate their environments. Work cross-functionally within the broader engineering community and product management to deliver solutions. 
  • Partner closely with cross-functional leads to define the future vision, strategy, and solutions for GDC.
  • Be responsible for providing customer-facing demo and trial environments and provide support to our SIs. 
  • Be a strategic thought leader and work closely with customer-facing Googlers, partners, and customers themselves to ensure we continue to meaningfully reduce friction and thus drive adoption.
