Description

Then we want you on our fantastic and supportive team!PACE is seeking a Special Education School Aide (Specialist) who will work directly with high school age students with autism and/or other related developmental disabilities that may have moderate and/or severe behavioral needs.  The Aide Specialist will provide constant supervision of his/her assigned student(s), which may include academics, vocational skills, behavior management and personal hygiene. The Aide Specialist operates within a classroom and is also responsible for providing critical behavior support; this includes managing behavioral crises of  students following the student behavior plan. May assist with training and support to classroom staff as directed by the School Behavior Analyst (BCBA). You should be a quick decision maker and use sound judgement in this role.
 

Requirements

Knowledge, Skill and Experience

The Instructional Aide Specialist must have the following minimum requirements. 

· Age – 18 years of age or older

· Education – High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.  BA in related field strongly preferred. Competency in English writing and communication. 

· Certification – Past or current possession of RBT required (Registered Behavior Therapist).

· Technology – Fluency in Google Suite. 

· Driver – Posses a valid California drives license with a good driving record and proof of insurance.

· Experience –The Instructional Aide Specialist must have at least 2 years experience working with autism spectrum disorder and or developmentally disabled population. 

· First Aid – Posses a valid first aid and CPR certification and maintain this certificate in good standing.

· Medical – Must have a clear physical health and TB test prior to employment and routinely during employment as required.

· Clearance – Must possess and maintain a clear DOJ and FBI clearance prior to and during employment. 

· Physical Restraints – Able to certify for Safety Care training; training is provided.

   

Physical Requirements

The Instructional Aide Specialist must be able to comply and adhere to the following physical requirements:

· Pushing and Pulling – The Instructional Aide Specialist must be able to lift and or push at least 40lbs.

· Twisting and Turning – Due to the high activity of the program this position requires the individual to be able to physically bend, squat, reach over shoulders, reach over head, reach outward, kneel, sit, walk on normal, slippery, or uneven surfaces and stand.

· Client Restraint – The Instructional Aide Specialist may occasionally be required to assist in the management of the clients and therefore must be trained in Safety Care procedures and be capable/competent for personal and staff safety reasons, in administering a restraint. 

· Office Work – This position requires that the Instructional Aide Specialist conduct the following office work: Keyboard, Handling, Repetitive Motion of Hands and Feet.
