JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
What You Will Do With JT4
The Telemetry Modernization Computer Scientist will provide senior-level software and systems engineering services to a variety of projects interfacing with or processing bi-directional telemetry data.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Function as a technical lead, technical manager, or system architect of multiple projects at the department level, as directed by management
- Direct and provide guidance to technical staff on complex projects
- Direct/participate in planning, design, and implementation of work within functional scope
- Develop the design of system/software and associated design documentation
- Represent the company to customers, co-contractors, competitors, or other elements within JT4
- Maintain high visibility to the customer and JT4 senior management
- Provide or facilitate the synthesis between multiple technical and management disciplines within the company and those provided by coworkers
- Establish and maintain positive customer relations
- Strong understanding of low-level system programming and concurrent programming principles (e.g., threading models, thread safety)
- Proficient in designing and documenting data structures for real-world applications
- Deep understanding of C++ object-oriented concepts, including data structures (FIFOs, STACKS, ARRAYS) and memory management (pointers, linked lists)
- Develop network applications using low-level socket APIs and TCP/IP (client/server)
- Senior-level programming skills in interfacing C/C++ applications with database systems using database APIs.
- Ability to translate high-level requirements into manageable, testable, and verifiable components; this includes iterative abstraction to create multi-level presentations for approvals
- Senior-level expertise in the application of industry standard hardware and software design and documentation techniques
- Extensive knowledge of systems engineering and software development lifecycles
- Excellent verbal, communication, and organizational skills with an ability to work under deadlines
- Perform other job-related duties, as required
REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE
One of the following educational requirements must be met for this position:
- A bachelor's degree in an associated discipline and a minimum of 14 years of related experience
- A master's degree in an associated discipline and a minimum of 10 years of experience
- A PhD in an associated discipline and a minimum of eight years of experience
In addition, a Computer Scientist V must possess the following qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise with computer-based systems and applications
- Senior-level programming skills in languages used for job-specific programming tasks
- Senior-level expertise in the application of industry standard hardware and software design and documentation techniques
- Extensive knowledge of systems engineering and software development lifecycles
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent planning/organizational skills
- Ability to work under deadlines
The incumbent must possess a valid, state issued driver's license. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.
SALARY
The expected salary range for this position is $132,740 to $196,110 annually.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required.
Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
