Cobol Developer
6-month Contract-to-Hire; Cleveland, OH (remote)
SUMMARY:
- Tier One Technologies is seeking a Cobol Developer to support a Defense Business System for our US Government client.
- This is a remote position based out of Cleveland, OH, with occasional onsite visits (two to three times per year) as requested by the client.
- Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain DoD Public Trust clearance.
- SELECTED CANDIDATES WITHOUT REQUIRED CLEARANCE WILL BE SUBJECT TO A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION TO RECEIVE IT.
Responsibilities:
- Use expertise to design, develop, code, test, debug and maintain software for the System.
- May work in one or several areas, such as equipment or software design, engineering evaluation or test, configuration management procedures, statistical analysis and modeling.
- Work with users to define existing or new system scope and objectives.
- Provide analytical support and technical advice during the conceptualization, development, and implementation phases.
- Plan and schedule new applications systems projects with user, systems software, and computer center operations personnel, including the identification of objectives, time frames, costs, and manpower requirements.
- Perform tasks necessary to ensure the identification and documentation of hazards within software systems using various analysis tools and techniques.
- Review and evaluate systems and software for adherence to government or commercial directives, standards, guidelines, and criteria concerning software safety and systems safety.
- Confirm design mitigations are captured in the design and its documentation and verifies implementation.
- Provide basic design, build or maintenance of software, using authoring or scripting languages, content creation tools, management tools and digital media.
- Identify problems uncovered by testing or customer feedback and correct problems.
- Evaluate code to ensure it is valid, meets industry standards and is compatible with devices or operating systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent training required.
- 5+ years of experience in software development and/or related field.
- Strong working knowledge of COBOL, CICS, JCL, TSO, Rexx, ISPF, VSAM, IDCAMS, CA-Librarian and CA-InterTest for CICS.
- Prior experience supporting Payment applications is a plus.
- Experience utilizing Agile methodology.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain DoD Public Trust clearance.
