POSITION PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to engage more people and partners in igniting the potential of our community’s young people by managing and executing engagement strategies for individual donors, monthly, recurring donors and mid-level donors, corporate partners, national-level retail partnerships, and more. Planning and executing events, “friend raisers,” and other engagement opportunities as appropriate. Participates in and drives other opportunities that will bring the Omaha and Council Bluffs communities closer to our mission and vision, deepening partnership and commitment. 

Help identify and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to make sure the agency is providing a continuously evolving suite of engagement opportunities for each of our audiences. Analyze data to determine which engagement opportunities are most effective and build and implement strategy to continuously elevate engagement strategy. 

Collaborate with members of the agency’s Leadership Team, the Board of Directors, corporate partners, the National BBBSA staff, and agency staff to achieve position outcomes and enhance the culture of engagement and stewardship in the organization. 

Represent BBBSM positively and communicate the mission and values of BBBSM both externally and internally. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute an engagement plan that includes activities designed to deepen understanding and commitment and build long-term partnerships between the community and BBBSM. 
    • Lead annual planning, budgeting, and execution for events, corporate partnerships (Impact Giving), individual and mid-level giving and our monthly, recurring donor program. 
    • Work with cross-functional departments to make sure engagement opportunities are carried out
  • Execute a strategic set of events and engagement opportunities with varied outcomes and audiences 
    • Raise an increased level of funds annually through the planning, support, and implementation of fundraising events to meet BBBSM’s revenue goals, including (but not limited to) Bowl for Kids’ Sake Fore Potential
    • Collaborate with members of the development team to identify opportunities and promote attendance at events to cultivate supporter engagement 
    • Identify and implement opportunities aimed at engagement and stewardship of new and existing prospective supporters
  • Continued implementation and growth of our comprehensive corporate partnership strategy (Impact Giving)
    • Lead and execute the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporate sponsorship prospects and partners.
    • Coordinate opportunities for corporate donors and volunteers to engage with and/or support the mission by working closely with the program department.
    • Ensure local implementation of appropriate/relevant national corporate fundraising opportunities, in partnership with Marketing and Outreach Manager.
    • Oversee corporate stewardship and fulfillment for all corporate donors, focusing on a high level of customer service and customized stewardship/fulfillment activities.
  • Implement existing and identify new engagement opportunities resulting in increased recruitment of new supporters to BBBSM (including both potential volunteers and donors) and increased engagement of existing supporters:
    • Serve as the lead contact person and coordinator for all national-level partnership opportunities  
    • Collaborate with the Recruitment Coordinator to integrate efforts that result in volunteer inquiries, volunteer engagement opportunities, giving opportunities, and partnership growth with corporations, businesses, and individuals.
    • Lead strategy, coordination and management of the Friends of Mentoring Service League
    • Evaluate third-party fundraising opportunities and lead or assign staff to lead the execution of approved opportunities.
  • Serve as a forward-facing representative of our agency at community events, stakeholder engagement opportunities, presentations and networking engagements alongside the CEO and CDO.
  • Be an active, passionate, and collaborative member of the BBBSM staff through proactive engagement in culture and adherence to established systems.
    • Convey with passion the importance of the Big Brothers Big Sisters mission in order to build and maintain relationships with the community, local organizations, and corporate partners which increase awareness, participation, and support for events and raise money and other resources for the organization. 
    • Support, and collaborate with, other departments, including program and recruitment, along with the agency’s Employee Development efforts, to accomplish organization goals.
    • Maintain accurate, thorough, and accessible records for all activities, donors, and goals in fundraising databases, as well as other administrative duties as needed.
    • Participate in training and/or continuing education on relevant material for professional development.
  • Support and lead other efforts of the development team as needed.

EDUCATION & RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

Education Level: High school diploma/GED equivalent and one of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, or other related field preferred or within six months of degree completion;
  • Associate’s degree plus three years of relevant work experience in marketing, public relations, or other related field; or
  • Five years of relevant work in marketing, public relations, or other related field

Related Work Experience: Experience in marketing, sales, communications, public affairs, customer service and/or volunteer recruitment a plus.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of the community

  • The ability to work outside regular business hours, including some evenings and weekends

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

35% of the time will be spent on travel to presentations, partnership meetings and other community engagements within the service area. Must have a car, valid driver’s license, and meet state required automobile insurance minimums; Establish a mutually agreed-upon hybrid work schedule with supervisor, including designated in-office days at the Omaha office location. Travel between partner locations may be subject to mileage reimbursement in accordance with our mileage policy.

Hybrid work environment.  Reliable, secure home internet service a must. Flexible work hours to prepare for and attend events, including some evenings and weekends. When event attendance is required, must travel to local communities and neighborhoods in service area. Transporting, lifting and carrying supplies to event locations.
