Job Description
A Lead Contracts Administrator oversees the full contract lifecycle, ensuring compliance, mitigating risk, and leading contract administration efforts. The role typically includes process improvements, and stakeholder engagement along with leading junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the contracts lifecycle: drafting, review, negotiation, execution, amendments, and renewals.
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders (legal, procurement, finance, operations, external vendors).
- Maintain contract tracking systems and monitor obligations/deliverables.
- Identify and mitigate contractual risks.
- Process contract modifications and change orders.
- Lead junior staff as needed.
- Develop improvements to templates, workflows, and processes.
- Maintain reporting on contract activity, compliance status, and cycle times.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, legal studies, contract management, or related field.
- 5+ years of contract administration experience, with leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of contract law, compliance, and negotiation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with contract management systems and document control.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Leadership and mentoring ability.
Desirable Experience
- Commercial contracts expertise.
- Risk management or compliance monitoring experience.
- Procurement and sourcing familiarity.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Legal or paralegal background.
