The Employability and Placement Officer plays a vital role in enhancing students’ career readiness, working closely with the careers lead, employer engagement team, curriculum teams, students and employers. The postholder will track and maintain accurate records of work experience and work placement hours, carry out employer health and safety checks to ensure all placements meets safeguarding and compliance standards, design and deliver engaging employability activities, and ensure students develop the skills, confidence, and experience needed to succeed in their chosen pathways. This role supports the college’s commitment to inclusive access to careers education, employer encounters, and progression routes, contributing to the achievement of Gatsby Benchmarks and positive student outcomes

Key Responsibilities
- Support and prepare students to develop their employability skills in readiness for work and industry placements through a range of workshops, group talks and tutorials.
- Support and liaise with the employer engagement team, curriculum teams and students, to ensure students are accessing appropriate and meaningful work and industry placement opportunities in line with course/subject area.
- Support and liaise with curriculum teams, students and employers to update and maintain records of work and industry placements, in line with targets and T-Level requirements.
- Work with support services and curriculum teams to ensure additional student support needs are considered and signposted where appropriate.
- Monitor student attendance and progress during placements, conducting site visits where appropriate.
- Support students with job search skills, CV writing, interview preparation, and career planning.
- Support with comprehensive reporting of employability skills building sessions, and placement completion across all learners in scope.
- Delivery training and support for all learners and apprentices that enables them to access positive progression and destination points.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- GCSE English Language at grade C/ 4 -9 equivalent
- GCSE Maths at grade C/4-9 or equivalent
- Educated to Level 3
- Demonstrate knowledge of working with a range of people in educational setting.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Heath and Safely in the workplace and PPE requirements.
- Demonstrate a knowledge of tracking and keeping records up to date and in line with safeguarding and policy
