ABOUT THE ROLE
The Patient Services Coordinator (PSC) is responsible for facilitating the intake and scheduling of new and existing patient visits for the field staff each day and assisting with the coordination of patient care. They are responsible for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with customers and referral sources and responding to customer requests and concerns as well as managing the insurance verification and authorization process.
*This schedule will be Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm (in office)
MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:- Promote and practice the Sage Family of Companies philosophy and mission of “Providing the most compassionate, comprehensive, and qualified care to people with a life-limiting illness to serve them through their individual journey with dignity, respect, and integrity.”
- Handle all intake and scheduling interactions via phone (inbound and outbound), email, voicemail, faxes, and chat in a timely and courteous manner and return messages from potential patients or referral sources, escalating communication to the Management Team when appropriate.
- Answer inquiries from patient, patient’s family, and facilities, respecting the patient’s dignity and confidentiality.
- Assist new and existing patients by promptly managing the registration process and scheduling first-time and follow-up appointments with providers.
- Ensure all admission paperwork is complete and accurate, including signatures, patient clinical history, demographics, and insurance information are entered into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Collaborate with the company’s insurance professionals regarding the patient’s benefit coverage and financial responsibility.
- Collect payment information for copayments, private payments, patient balances, and records payments.
- Create patient charts and audit all paperwork for accuracy.
- Communicate with other departments and healthcare providers pertaining to patients’ needs and concerns to enhance the resolution of issues.
- Demonstrate proven ability to work in a dedicated office space and comply with security protocols that ensure HIPAA compliance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:- High School Diploma
- Two (2) years of healthcare experience in a hospital, medical outpatient clinic, home health, hospice, or specialty care setting.
- Six (6) months of clinical intake and scheduling experience.
- Must have reliable transportation, proof of current automobile insurance and a valid driver’s license.
