Summary:

We are seeking an FPGA Design Engineer II to develop and deliver FPGA-based solutions for electronic products supporting aerospace, defense, and medical markets. In this role, you will take ownership of FPGA design efforts throughout the product lifecycle—working with leading-edge FPGA platforms such as Xilinx, Lattice, and Microchip. You will design and implement advanced digital architectures, integrate high-speed interfaces, and contribute to product development with a focus on performance, efficiency, and scalability. Must be onsite in Huntsville, AL. 

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive FPGA design activities, including RTL coding, simulation, synthesis, and testing.
  • Develop, integrate, and optimize FPGA cores, contributing to modular and reusable design libraries.
  • Implement digital logic solutions in SystemVerilog, Verilog, and/or VHDL.
  • Conduct functional simulation, validation, and debugging using industry-standard tools.
  • Design, integrate, and test high-speed interfaces (e.g., PCIe Gen3/4, Ethernet, DDR4/5).
  • Collaborate with embedded software engineers, systems engineers, and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration.
  • Participate in design reviews, architecture discussions, and verification planning.
  • Stay current with emerging FPGA technologies and methodologies; apply reliability and rad-hard practices where needed.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in FPGA design and implementation experience.
  • Hands-on experience with FPGA platforms such as Xilinx, Microchip, or Lattice; experience with Versal, PolarFire, or Avant-X is a plus.
  • Strong background in RTL design, simulation, and synthesis flows.
  • Familiarity with high-speed interface integration (PCIe, Ethernet, DDR4/5).
  • Familiarity with AXI4-Lite and AXI4-Stream a plus.
  • Exposure to rad-hard FPGA environments is a plus but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in cross-functional teams.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by either ITAR or EAR U.S. export laws. As a condition to this job offer, in order to be employed in this position, you must be able to obtain an U.S. Government export license(s), as required by law.
  • Pay Range: $80,000 - $100,000 annually. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
