Position Summary: The Laundry Technician provides clean linens such as sheets, towels, gowns and resident clothing. The Housekeeper I performs a wide range of housekeeping duties to maintain a safe, neat and clean environment.
Education and Training Required: High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience: Prior laundry experience helpful. Prior sewing experience helpful. Prior housekeeping experience helpful.
Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good verbal/written communication skills. Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed and involved written and/or oral instructions. Ability to plan, organize and develop priorities. Knowledge of various types of fabric. Ability to work self-supervised. Ability to be a team player.

Continuously stand to perform tasks. Frequently walk to perform tasks. Continuously lift up to 10 pounds. Frequently lift up to 25 pounds. Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Frequently push or pull up to 50 pounds. Frequently carry up to 25 pounds. Occasionally carry up to 50 pounds. Occasionally requires climbing stairs/ladders. Frequently requires bending below the knee and to the knee, crouching/squatting, and reaching overhead. Frequently requires reaching in front of the body. Frequently need to use touch (texture). Frequently handle objects using sustained grip/pinch. Occasionally need to use sense of smell.
◾ Sight
Frequent use of far and near vision. Occasionally use color visualization.
◾ Cognition/Communication:
Frequently required to communicate effectively with other staff, volunteers, patients, and visitors using hearing skills (ordinary conversation), comprehensive speech, simple math, simple reading and simple writing skills.
◾ Environmental Conditions:
Mostly work in an indoor environment. Occasionally work around fumes and odors.
◾ Potential Hazards:
OSHA Blood Borne/TB Classification Class II – Occupational exposure to blood and Other Potentially Infectious Materials (OPIMs) is reasonably expected to occur in routine performance of duties. Continuously exposed to needles/syringes/sharps, waste handling (general trash) and red infectious waste. Frequently exposed to toxic/caustic chemical hazards & hazardous waste.
