POSITION OVERVIEW:
Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
Reports To: Tribal Health Nurse
Wage Range: $22-$33 per hour
Schedule: M-F; 8-5
Status: Nonexempt
Summary: Perform all nursing duties required by the facility’s job description but limited to the Scope of Practice for Licensed Vocational Nurses in the state of California. Perform nursing procedures according to the Policies and Procedures of the facility and per experience. Follow all HIPAA rules and regulations regarding confidentiality.
PRIMARY RESPONSABILITIES: (will include but not be limited to)
- Act as a resource to Medical Assistants.
- Oversee patient flow is maintained.
- Assist Clinic Manager in maintaining adequate inventory.
- Document all nursing assessments, interventions and doctor orders accurately, completely and in a timely manner on all documents required by facility and per medical-legal guidelines.
- Facilitate patient referrals as instructed by provider.
- Facilitate access to patient assistance programs from drug companies for patient’s access to medication when needed.
- Screen providers phone messages and prioritize. Intervene with provider when appropriate.
- Perform phlebotomy and appropriately handle specimens to be analyzed by lab.
- Triage of walk-ins and emergency phone-ins. Will utilize Clinic Manager and providers when needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse license.
- Current BLS certification.
- Valid California Driver’s License.
- Five years of experience as an LVN in a clinic or office setting.
- Must demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with and the ability to operate Microsoft Office software is required. Experience working with the RPMS computer system is preferred. Must possess skills in using computers and other office equipment, composing correspondence, managing filing systems, gathering and summarizing information, and planning, organizing, prioritizing, and executing complex and ongoing referral assignments. Must have the ability to correctly enter narratives and data in RPMS and the Electronic Health Records system.
- Must have the ability to work in an independent and self-directed manner and assume individual initiative. Must be willing and able to accept supervision and follow directions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires walking, standing, and sitting for prolonged periods; climbing stairs and stepstools; stooping, kneeling, crouching, balancing, and reaching; pushing, pulling, and lifting to 30 pounds; and raising objects overhead. The role also requires manual dexterity for operating computers and phones, as well as hearing, talking, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
Repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and fingers are involved. The employee may be subject to outdoor environmental conditions such as heat and cold, and will be required to walk on uneven ground. The position also requires the ability to safely operate and drive a motor vehicle.
