About the Department
Under general supervision, performs billing research and all customer billing functions. Performs a range of billing-oriented duties ranging from routine to complex to ensure accurate, complete, and timely processing for all billing services. Employee must also exercise tact, courtesy, and firmness in all contacts with customers and the general public by performing the following duties. This person reports directly to the Billing/Collections Manager.
Position Duties
- Reviews, researches and prepares customer accounts for billing.
- Prepares the daily utility billing by reviewing exception reports; submits corrected bills, handles manual adjustments to customer accounts. Responsible for quality control from a billing perspective on all rate changes.
- Maintains meter inventory, meter sets, removal and exchanges
- When necessary, assists customer service representatives with account inquiries.
- Verify meter reads are imported accurately to the billing system or manually validate meter reads.
- Create appropriate batch as needed for each billing cycle.
- Review and update billing exceptions.
- Analyze completed service orders and billing systems records to ensure proper charges are applied.
- Explain monthly billing methodologies, rates, fees, and all account charges and payments; explain payment services offered and options available.
- Calculate rates and perform any adjustments, as needed, for transfer of service, initial and/or final bills, rate changes, all fees, etc.
- Provide input to supervisor on creating/updating Standard Operating & Billing Procedures.
- Monitor all billing functions to ensure prompt and accurate billing updates.
- Trouble shoot abnormalities with AMI meter reading exceptions, create proper service orders for specific repairs needed in the field.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of a high school diploma or GED issued from an approved GED Administrator.
- Minimum of one-year relevant experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class E Driver's License.
