The Mental Health Associate (MHA) provides services to Hope’s treatment recipients through implementing therapeutic interventions in home, school and community environments. The MHA teaches living skills, social and communication skills and other needed life skills for social independence and community inclusion. The MHA may provide assistance with daily self-care routines for pediatric individuals and/or adult individuals with reduced functional abilities for activities of daily living. The MHA provides treatment recipients with opportunities to work on goals as outlined in the treatment plan. The Mental Health Associate maintains loyalty to the organization, its beliefs, values mission, vision, and expectations, and to the recipients of services.

The schedule is Sunday-Thursday nights from 10pm to 6am.

Essential Job Duties

1. Implements one-on-one and/or grouped therapeutic interventions and techniques as prescribed by the Directing Clinician and as specified in the mental health treatment plan.

2. Teaches and assists treatment recipients to develop and practice needed therapeutic skills through safely accessing and participating in community services, organizations and activities. Helps facilitate interactions between support recipients and others.

3. Models and mentors positive communications and behaviors. Pre-teaches alternatives and redirects less desirable behaviors through informal assessment and implementation and evaluation of strategies.

4. Collaborates with all members of the team to implement the mental health treatment plans and monitor effectiveness of the therapeutic strategies contained within the plan.

5. Develops and maintains positive professional relationships with all team members, assisting in the coordination of services. Shares information with team members to assist with providing appropriate services. Coordinates schedules with families/homes and other team members as needed.

6. Coordinates transportation for treatment recipients, which may include transporting in a personal vehicle, arranging public transportation, and/or through the use of vehicles assigned to the Agency.

7. Completes accurate, timely, and thorough documentation, including but not limited to, treatment plan progress notes, goal tracking, incident reports, and timecards, to be in compliance with Agency standards and Federal and State regulations.

8. Monitors environments, vehicles, equipment, and events for safety, accessibility, maintenance, and cleanliness.

9. Works a variety of hours and locations and with a number of different treatment recipients, both children and adults.

10. Monitors treatment recipients’ health and reports health concerns to appropriate supervisor and/or parent/guardian. Assists with following medical orders and medication administration and documentation, as specified by the individual’s medical professional(s). Accompanies and participates in appointments as requested.
