The Office of Supervisor Lawson-Remer is seeking a committed Senior Constituent Service and Field Representative to champion a bold, progressive agenda across San Diego County, the 5th largest metropolitan region in the country. This full-time position offers the opportunity to engage deeply with the community.
Representing six coastal cities and surrounding unincorporated areas, Supervisor Lawson-Remer has delivered meaningful results for her constituents, including:
- Expanding access to affordable healthcare, including mental health services.
- Holding corporate landlords accountable for driving up housing costs.
- Addressing environmental crises like the Tijuana River sewage contamination and safeguarding our coastline.
- Significantly improving labor protections, working conditions, and wages for tens of thousands of working families, and cracking down on wage theft.
- Establishing the nation’s first ever Immigrant Legal Defense Program in a border county.
- Pioneering “alternatives to incarceration” to advance community safety through services to reduce recidivism.
- Strengthening gun safety laws and using red flag laws to protect public safety.
- Combating homelessness through shelters, tiny homes, and safe camping sites.
- Protecting reproductive rights and ensuring access to legal, safe abortions.
Terra is an economist, attorney, community organizer, and educator. Before running for elected office, Terra worked as a senior advisor in the Obama Administration; as a professor of public policy in San Diego and New York; as an economist and attorney for the World Bank and global advocacy organizations including Amnesty International, Avaaz, and Namati; and as a political strategist for the labor movement and the Open Society Institute. She got her start in community organizing as a direct-action coordinator and founder of a national student organization fighting against inequality and for a more just and sustainable future.
The Senior Constituent Service and Field Representative develops and implements strategies for increasing community engagement and constituent services across various platforms, ensuring alignment with Supervisor Lawson-Remer’s goals. Further, this role requires routine in-person and virtual attendance at local and regional meetings and events which often occur in the evenings and on weekends.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Strategic Outreach:
- Organize and attend community events, workshops, and meetings, both virtual and in-person, to foster a sense of community and encourage active participation.
- Assist Director of Operations, setting goals and priorities for constituent interactions and ensuring seamless service delivery. The role combines strategic planning, daily management, and hands-on support for field operations, focusing on addressing constituent needs and strengthening community ties and engagement.
- Develop and implement field strategies that increase outreach, awareness, and access to government services and resources.
- Organize and direct field events, such as town halls, community resource fairs, and pop-up constituent service centers.
- Work collaboratively with communications teams to promote field activities and inform the community about available services and resources.
Constituent Service & Casework:
- Respond promptly to constituent inquiries via phone, email, and mail, providing accurate information and assistance.
- Process, track, and manage constituent casework, ensuring progress is monitored and cases are resolved in a timely manner.
- Maintain organized records of all communications and case statuses, updating the system regularly for transparency and accuracy.
- Track and report on case trends to identify systemic issues or service gaps, advising leadership on potential policy adjustments.
Community Relationship Building:
- Foster strong relationships with local community organizations, non-profits, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders to facilitate collaborative problem-solving.
- Serve as a point of contact for key community leaders, ensuring open lines of communication and feedback.
- Attend community meetings, events, and other gatherings as a representative of the elected office, addressing questions and concerns directly.
Data Management & Reporting:
- Oversee the collection and analysis of field service data, tracking constituent interactions, case outcomes, and overall service metrics.
- Prepare regular reports for leadership, detailing field activities, service impact, and recommendations for improvement.
- Use data insights to inform strategic decisions on resource allocation, outreach focus areas, and potential policy initiatives.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strategic Planning & Problem-Solving: Able to develop outreach strategies and efficiently address constituent concerns.
- Technical Skillset: Proven and strong command of database and tracking management on various platforms.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Skilled in both verbal and written communication, able to clearly convey information to both team members and the public.
- Analytical Mindset: Proficient in analyzing service data and identifying trends to make informed decisions and improve field services.
- Community Engagement Expertise: Deep understanding of the community's needs and the ability to build meaningful relationships with diverse groups.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly, professionally, and persuasively to diverse audiences.
- Strong understanding of local, state, and federal government, as well as an awareness and knowledge of the issues and communities within District 3.
- Professional phone etiquette, paired with the ability to build rapport and communicate tactfully, respectfully, and effectively with a wide range of personalities.
- Proven ability to perform essential job functions with a collaborative spirit, demonstrating courtesy, discretion, and an independent approach to casework and constituent support.
- High level of thoroughness and attention to detail, ensuring accurate, timely handling of all duties and case-related responsibilities.
- Strong organizational skills and familiarity with office policies, practices, and computer applications, including proficiency in work processing and other office software.
- Flexibility to manage a dynamic work environment with competing priorities, effectively handling pressure and stress to maintain a positive and professional demeanor.

EDUCATION (OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE):
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with at least 2 years in legislative or community work.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Strong oral and written communication skills for clear, professional interactions with diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal government operations, and familiarity with District 3 issues and communities.
- Professional phone etiquette, with the ability to build rapport and communicate tactfully with various personalities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with discretion and a proactive approach to casework.
- High attention to detail for accurate, timely completion of duties and case management.
- Strong organizational skills, with proficiency in office policies, practices, and computer applications.
- Flexibility to handle competing priorities in a dynamic environment while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Split time between office-based administrative tasks and fieldwork.
- Availability for nights and weekends to support events.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.

- Salary will depend on qualifications
