As an Eligibility Office Manager 2 (EOM 2), you will lead, supervise, and organize subordinate supervisors and administrative support staff in the Wasilla Division of Public Assistance (DPA) office. You will exercise independent judgment in hiring, assigning tasks, reviewing work, providing instruction, and training your team. In this position, you will collaborate with partner organizations and community agencies to effectively plan, organize, and allocate resources within the division, delivering the benefits and services provided by DPA.

You will be working in the Wasilla Public Assistance office. Tips on how to best succeed in this position if chosen:
Most of the work will be computer-based, so having good typing skills (at least 30 words per minute) and being proficient in data entry is recommended.
With most data being input into computer systems, a strong familiarity with using the internet, toggling between browsers, multiple computer screens, and a working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite and its components is helpful.
This position requires extensive contact with the public, and being able to be empathetic while explaining the need for information or determining benefits is highly recommended.

- Public assistance programs and subprograms' rules and regulations, requirements, policies, and procedures and applying knowledge to the most difficult caseload situations; and/or
- Personnel and office management principles and the practices and techniques of supervision, including those of directing, evaluating, and training staff
Progressively responsible experience in a public assistance program and/or training or experience supervising, leading, or otherwise planning, controlling, and directing the work of others to achieve the goals of the office or organization.

"Progressively responsible" means indicating growth and/or advancement in complexity, difficulty, or level of responsibility.
Minimum Qualifications

The State of Alaska uses four proficiency levels to measure and describe an applicant’s level of competence in applying certain behaviors, knowledge, skills, and abilities to accomplish a specific task. CLASSIFICATION
This position is currently under review as part of the Public Assistance Field Services Study; therefore, the title and/or pay range currently assigned may be subject to change upon implementation of this class study.
