Weighout Technician

In this role, you will accurately proportion raw materials to create custom ceramic powder batches using precision methods and material control systems.  

 Work schedule:   1st shift, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, M-F.

Primary job responsibilities:

  • Weigh raw materials, ensuring weigh out operations are performed in accordance with written and verbal instructions.  
  • Ensure batches contain proper ingredients and quantities
  • Maintain inventory records of raw materials used in batch manufacturing
  • Interact with supervisory personnel, engineers, powder processors, planners and lab personnel to communicate weighout specifics, special instructions, non-standard observations and system transactions.  
  • Maintain responsibility for raw material, controlling batches, and controlling weighing scale.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area to minimize contamination potential.  The operator will clean all equipment and the entire area prior to the end of each shift.  
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or repair needs to their supervisor or engineer.
  • Perform duties of Powder Processor Technician when Weighout duties are completed or as need arises.

Requirements include:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (technical field preferred)
  • Must demonstrate safe work habits
  • Operate under AS 9100 and ISO 14001 requirements
  • Ability to regularly lift 30 lbs. and often lift 60 lbs.
  • Ability to push barrels on dollies up to 300 lbs.
  • Ability to work in dusty environments using a PAPR respirator
  • Standing 8 hours
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Work with attention to detail
  • Maintain accurate records electronically and written
  • Exposure to powders and liquids
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high-volume environment
  • Ability to work on self-directed teams

Preferred competencies:

  • Strong computer literacy and skills (experience in SAP preferred; will train)
  • Previous experience in a technical field (scientific, mechanical, and electrical) 1-2 years
  • Mechanical understanding
  • Interpretation of process instructions
  • Excellent manual dexterity
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Operation of weighout scales, forklift, and fork truck (in warehouse)
  • Daily forklift inspection
