Summary
Under the general direction of the Director of Environmental, this person will function as an Environmental Field Technician within the Environmental Department. They will primarily provide project field operations support for both interior and exterior projects, and travel as required for client and project needs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide field support outdoors including remedial oversight; soil, surface water, and groundwater sample collection; and site field investigation and assessment up to 100% of the time in all weather conditions.
- Occasionally, provide office support including analytical data entry and evaluation, technical report preparation, and subcontractor and regulatory agency support.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the applicable federal, state and local regulations and other applicable regulations as they pertain to Energy and Environmental Department activities.
- Maintain required 40-Hour HAZWOPER training/certification and other Energy and Environment Department certifications and licensing in Illinois as applicable. In addition, at the request of the Vice Presidents, obtain and maintain same in other states as required to meet regulatory, project and client needs.
- Provide general Environmental and Industrial Hygiene technical assistance and support for EDI projects in accordance with EDI Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Assist in the preparation of detailed technical written reports providing results of the Energy and Environment Department services.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned that are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the responsibilities listed above. A High School diploma or the equivalent thereof is required. The ability to work independently on a project site; and exhibit initiative, self-direction, and good judgement in a team setting is required. A valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance are required. The work associated with this position requires solid written and verbal communication skills and the willingness to work a flexible schedule as project needs dictate.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
