We empower people to break the cycles of homelessness, welfare dependency, substance abuse, and incarceration through innovative work and housing programs.
We are seeking a Senior Director of Workforce Development who, under the supervision of the Vice President of Workforce Development, will provide oversight of our comprehensive career development services, educational programming, occupational training, and services to graduates of RWA. The person in this role will provide direct supervision to two managers and indirect supervision for the entire department. The Senior Director of Workforce Development exercises broad latitude for decision-making under the direction of the VP of Workforce Development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides direct supervision for the Director of Education and Training, Coordinator of Education and Training, and the Manager of Legal Referral Services.
- Creates budgets and manages grants
- Manages data collection and metric tracking for the Education and Training Department
- Acts as education and training liaison to outside partners and meets with outside agencies to create partnerships and referral opportunities for TDF to various educational and occupational training programs, as assigned
- Curriculum creation/development: TASC, ABE, Computer Essentials, and occupational training programs
- Attends education/training and workforce development policy and coalition meetings, as assigned
- Analyze workforce development and labor market trends to inform decisions about what educational and training offerings best meet the needs of trainees in RWA
- Conducts regular meetings for the Education and Training Departments
- Oversees TABE licensing and testing
- Serves as head of Workforce Development in the absence of the VP of Workforce Development
- Reviews the performance of staff and plans/coordinates professional development opportunities for staff
- Conducts quarterly classroom observations/evaluations in all Education and Training classrooms
- Coordinates monthly department meetings with the Director of Education and Training and the Director of Workforce Development to ensure department alignment.
- Performs other tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required, Master's preferred
- At least 7 years of not-for-profit experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role
- Experience in Workforce Development and/or Education preferred
- Excellent writing skills
- Adept at public speaking
- Commitment to The Doe Fund mission
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft-based programs: email, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
