JOB DESCRIPTION


Knightscope is seeking a Buyer II to join our Procurement team. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day purchasing activities while also contributing to supplier strategy, cost reduction, and process improvements. The Buyer will ensure the timely acquisition of components and services needed for manufacturing, field service, and R&D, with a particular focus on electro-mechanical and electronic components critical to Knightscope’s products.


The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in purchasing, with the ability to balance tactical execution (issuing POs, tracking deliveries) with strategic responsibilities (supplier negotiations, vendor performance management, sourcing alternatives).


This position is located in Sunnyvale, CA and will require you to be full-time on-site.


RESPONSIBILITIES

· Manage the end-to-end procurement cycle for assigned commodities, materials, and services.

· Source and evaluate suppliers for technology systems, including electrical, mechanical, PCBA, and software components.

· Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality and delivery performance.

· Collaborate with engineering to support new product introductions (NPI), prototype builds, and production scaling.

· Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues related to delivery schedules, quality, or invoicing.

· Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and vendor agreements in our ERP system.

· Be aware and help identify opportunities for improvement.

· Support inventory management by coordinating with planning and warehouse teams.

· Regularly report and communicate with internal teams as to status of their inquiries.


QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

· Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field (or Associates Degree with equivalent experience).

· 3–5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, ideally within a manufacturing, robotics, electronics, or hardware technology environment.

· Strong knowledge of sourcing mechanical and electrical components, as well as software.

· Experience in a production, assembly and manufacturing environment.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems – Oracle/Netsuite experience is preferred.

· Proven negotiation and vendor management skills.

· Positive attitude and mindful approach to challenges.

· Impeccable organizational skills – ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

· Strong written & verbal communication skills.
