  1. SCOPE OF ROLE:               

The Support Services functions at S:US are carried out by a team of professionals with diverse backgrounds who share deeply in the S:US mission. We are a resource that provides support to the individual program departments to assist in the pursuit of our mission. The purpose of the Finance Department at S:US is to fulfill the organization’s mission in the most effective and efficient manner and to remain accountable to stakeholders, including clients, partners, funders, employees, and the community. In order to accomplish this, the Finance Department commits to providing accurate and complete payroll data for internal and external use by the Executive Team and the Board of Directors.

 

Accountant will be working on Cash management related aspects of the general ledger and month-end close process.

 

 

 

  1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:               
  • Prepare daily cash activities reports for Grants, AR, GL and AP with particular back up information
  • Daily review positive pay exception reports and upload positive pay files for the issued checks
  • Monitor un-booked cash transactions and follow up on them with the respective teams
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for selected accounts
  • Prepare ad hoc journal entries upon request
  • Create and update ACH/wire template for the vendor payment
  • Assist with various grant audits and year-end audit preparation
  • Assist with accounting and financial inquiries by researching and interpreting data
  • Responsible for on-going projects as per request of Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller or Controller

 

  1. KEY PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

 

  • Problem-solving skills – Ability to be creative and analytical. Examine issues and data and search for inconsistencies, reconcile inconsistencies and recommend then implement solutions.
  • Math skills – Ability to use math to calculate data and ensure that information is correct. Ability to work with numbers and make calculations with minimal errors.
  • Communication skills – Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Interpersonal Skills – Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.  Treat colleagues with respect and find the best way to help answer their questions so that they can be successful in their job duties.

Qualifications:

 

  1. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Economics or Finance required or related field.
  • Minimum two (2) years accounting experience in non-profit organization
  • Proficiency with MS Excel (pivot table and VLOOKUP must), MS Word and Outlook.
  • Possess critical thinking, analytical, interpretative, and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail, and demonstrated an ability to deliver high-quality work.
