Arconic is currently in search of a Supply Chain Automotive Flow Leader to join our Global Rolled Products (GRP) business unit in Alcoa, TN. Arconic’s Tennessee Operations, is one of the most modern aluminum fabricating facilities in the world. Our plants produce high-quality molten metal and aluminum sheet and are recognized as a world leader in the business. The facility has been located at the Foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains for 100 years and continues to thrive and grow.
The Supply Chain Automotive Flow Leader is responsible for ensuring that critical manufacturing assets are planned, scheduled and synchronized along each flow path to achieve the best possible customer service while maximizing profitability and minimizing inventory assets by adhering to the defined Sales and Operations Plan.
This role is primarily day shift, Monday-Friday. However, there is potential for the incumbent to work off-shifts as needed to support the functions of this role and take calls as first line help chain during off-shifts.
Responsibilities
- Support the business in the design and implementation of flow-based systems that achieve maximum customer service at the lowest possible inventory cost by assigning and developing resources within respective organization.
- Develop team of order delivery, scheduling and planning resources and supporting processes to maximize on-time performance, profitable capacity and reduced inventory.
- Manage the order fulfillment process using lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and maximize customer satisfaction.
- Execute enhanced customer service models built from target conditions that respond to customer needs and competitive situations.
- Utilize lean manufacturing (ABS) techniques to drive systemic business processes that drive mill and customer problem resolution and prevention.
- Support the supply chain organization by adherence to all quality systems including IATF, ASAT and SOX requirements.
- Provide clear production center direction by guiding schedulers or visual signals to prioritize production orders and trial material within the framework of the agreed Supply Plan.
- Develop and monitor tracking systems to evaluate supply chain plans and execution to supply chain plans to ensure agreed operating results are achieved.
- Take a leading role in developing and deploying systemic changes in the Supply Chain order fulfillment function based upon lean manufacturing (ABS) principles that will lead to enhanced customer satisfaction while eliminating production and inventory waste.
- Develop appropriate internal tests within existing and future target conditions to highlight delivery and inventory problems. Define the help chain that will drive to problem resolution and elimination.
- Assess the capability of each staff member and provide timely and effective personal development opportunities. It is the incumbent’s responsibility to enhance the leadership and functional capabilities across the breadth of their organization for succession planning. The incumbent will be accountable for the performance management and setting the direction to ensure that key operating results are achieved.
- Work with the sales and production organizations to identify wasteful practices and information flows. Then develop and implement target conditions that simplify information flows and align order fulfillment process accountabilities to facilitate problem solving. This requires extensive knowledge of metal and information flow paths to accomplish this objective.
- Develop approach to optimize the management and flow of metal, prioritizing backlog, currents and futures to achieve maximum customer service.
- Represent Tennessee Operations Supply Chain organization during customer visits, customer conference calls and onsite visits at customer locations.
- Manage negotiations, communications, relationships and performance feedback with service, systems, or providers for raw material, scrap, temporary labor, systems support and outside fabrication process providers.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Engineering from an accredited university
- Experience with SAP/Oracle.
- Experience directing performance management for others.
- Understanding of Arconic mill operations and ability to interact with all levels of employees at the Tennessee facility.
- Strong analytic skills.
- Advanced Microsoft office understanding, specifically in Excel.
- Experience presenting to all levels of plant management and external customers.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain, raw material/production planning and Sales & Operations Planning principles to optimize customer delivery, inventory and cost.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills to successfully meet or exceed business targets.
- Change management, analytical and problem-solving skill set.
- Successfully works across diverse functions and levels of the company.
- Previous people leadership/management or the demonstrated ability to lead teams/work groups is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, mill process knowledge and a demonstrated ability to use production planning and office/administrative software to support business needs.
- Supply chain and leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience in inventory management, production flow and leveling, production systems and tools, manufacturing challenges, and supplier/customer relationship management.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
