Job Summary:

Supports the hospital’s clinical mission by providing psychological assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment for patients across inpatient and outpatient settings. Collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to address behavioral, emotional, and cognitive needs impacting medical outcomes and overall well-being. Delivers crisis intervention, consultation, and therapeutic services to patients and families, while supporting hospital staff in managing psychological aspects of care. Contributes to education, supervision, and quality improvement initiatives within the hospital environment.

Education & Experience

Education and Experience Required:

PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology
 

Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:

Psychology license from MS Board of Psychology

Preferred Qualifications:

Supervised experience in Clinical Health Psychology

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Thorough knowledge of psychological theory, assessment, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Ability to administer and interpret psychological tests and assessments. Strong skills in crisis intervention and treatment planning. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities with diverse patient populations, families, and medical staff. Ability to function effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Demonstrated commitment to ethical practice and professional development.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts psychological assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning for patients referred from inpatient and outpatient hospital services.

  • Provides individual, group, and family psychotherapy using evidence-based practices.

  • Delivers crisis intervention and consultation for patients presenting with acute psychological distress.

  • Collaborates with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare providers to develop and coordinate comprehensive patient care plans.

  • Documents patient care in accordance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

  • Provides consultation to medical staff regarding behavioral, emotional, and cognitive aspects of patient care.

  • Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and hospital committees as assigned.

  • Supervises psychology trainees, interns, or residents as applicable.

  • Engages in continuous professional development and maintains knowledge of current clinical psychology research and best practices.
