The Manager of Community Engagement will occupy a highly visible role in our community as they engage organizational and community partners in Toledo and Lucas County.  Responsibilities include the development, implementation, and creating and managing opportunities for the programs of Neighborhood Health Association to reach those in need of our services. 


Skills in personnel management, supervision and budgeting are required for keeping deadlines and budgets on track.  Other key skills include the ability to be flexible, plan, and organization and coordinate multiple program development activities.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Primarily responsible for the development and implementation of short- and long-term plans for programs, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance.
  • Assist with the development of public relations and communications strategies to support program goals and increase community awareness.
  • Develop yearly outreach plan according to program needs and capacity.
  • Assist in design of performance objectives, implement and monitor programming to meet desired outcomes.
  • Ensure database(s) maintenance which includes participant, prospect information and mailing list.
  • Organize and establish meetings on a result basis with designated individuals to foster positive relationships.
  • Identify necessary support resources and work with staff to secure such resources.
  • Organize training seminars to address staff needs and identify relevant external training opportunities.
  • Requires regular travel by car to and between locations supported by role
  • Regular physical attendance at the worksite(s) is an essential function of this position as client interaction and staff supervision cannot be performed remotely

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Development, Public Relations, Education, Social Work or other related fields or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ direct supervisory or management experience required. The ideal candidate will have program development/implementation experience in a community-based organization.
  • Strong managerial competencies in the areas of developing and managing budgets, hiring, and training, supervising and assessing personnel.
  • Supervise line staff by articulating expectations, displaying model behavior, maintaining open lines of communication and being clear about roles and relationships.
  • Strong managerial acumen in setting corporate directions and aligning strategic goals around business plans.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices related to program design, development and implementation.
  • Creative, strategic and analytical thinker with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Experience in event planning; curriculum planning and implementation.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows based computer applications and database management experience.
  • Must be highly organized and able to work well with others and with a variety of populations.
  • Flexible; possessing the ability to wear different “hats” on short notice.
  • An effective communicator at all levels in the organization, with strong and polished interpersonal, oral, written and persuasive skills.
  • Strong ethics and a high level of personal and professional integrity.
