ArcelorMittal Mining is seeking a seasoned Finance Controller with a strong expertise in financial management, reporting, and control within the mining or heavy industry sectors. This role is key to ensuring accurate financial oversight and supporting strategic business decisions. 

 

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with IFRS, local GAAP (including UK GAAP where applicable), and internal policies. 
  • Lead monthly and year-end close processes, coordinating with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance.
  • Support and drive the budgeting, forecasting, and rolling forecast processes, including variance analysis, financial modeling, and scenario planning to aid strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor, analyze, and control operational costs (materials, labor, overhead, inventory valuation), ensuring proper allocation of expenses such as depreciation, interest, and insurance.
  • Maintain and reconcile key balance sheet accounts and ensure accuracy of financial data and records.
  • Monitor cash flow forecasting, ensuring liquidity optimization and effective management of banking relationships, credit facilities, and financial instruments.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and governance (SOX compliance), mitigating financial and operational risks through continuous process improvement and automation.
  • Oversee capital expenditure (CAPEX) tracking, ensure alignment with approved budgets and project timelines, and provide financial support for investment proposals, due diligence, and post-investment reviews.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, procurement, and corporate finance teams to support cost-saving initiatives, financial planning, and performance monitoring.
  • Support audit activities and ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Assist in improving accounting systems and financial procedures in line with group standards to strengthen financial accuracy and efficiency.

 

Qualifications & Experiences

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Professional certification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in finance roles, with strong exposure to mining or industrial project environments.
  • Experience with project-based finance, capital investments, and international operations
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, reporting standards, and compliance.
  • Solid understanding of CAPEX/OPEX planning, cost allocation models, and KPI tracking.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent in English; French is a plus due to the international scope of operations.
