Job Overview

Are you a data-driven professional ready to take your career global? We are seeking a Data Engineer to join a leading UK-based financial technology team operating in the Markets Data Hub division. Based in Málaga, Spain, you’ll play a critical role in defining and automating data processes using cutting-edge Big Data technologies within a Market Risk environment.

This position is ideal for someone with strong SQL, ETL, and process design expertise who is eager to step into a role focused more on process definition and automation than pure development. If you're passionate about transforming data operations and excited about relocating to Spain, this is your chance to thrive in a world-class international team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and automate data processing workflows using tools like Databricks, Spark Scala, and Airflow within a market risk context.

  • Use Control-M and Job as Code frameworks to automate and schedule data processes.
  • Create and manage requests in line with team procedures for software deployment and process configuration.
  • Conduct and validate integrated test executions as part of automation workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, analysts, and risk teams, to streamline data operations.

  • Solid experience working on technology-focused projects in data engineering or data operations.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and confident in writing and optimising complex queries.
  • Proven experience in ETL design, data modelling, and data pipeline orchestration.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Control-M and understanding of Job as Code for automation.
  • Experience with testing methodologies and data validation in complex environments.
  • Professional competence in English, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to relocate to Málaga, Spain and work in an international, fast-paced setting.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Scala and Big Data tools such as Spark Scala, Databricks, and Airflow.
