Job Description:
We are seeking an individual with strong expertise related to various aspects of system administration supporting MACOM offices and data centers globally. This role will be responsible for provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software related to infrastructure services. Also, they need to participate in research and development to drive innovation and efficiency within IT infrastructure.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Manage MACOM’s IT infrastructure and related services.
- Provide technical recommendations for services performance and reliability improvements.
- Provide technical leadership to run function team.
Roles and Responsibilities (not limited to):
- Installing, configuring, maintaining, performing upgrades and downgrades, troubleshooting, documenting for systems, servers, and infrastructure devices and related services.
- Recommends and develops mission critical solutions; makes recommendations to address capacity constraints and performance limitations on a wide range of technologies.
- Evaluate performance, monitor workloads, and analyze results to ensure optimal operations.
- Develop and improve upon operational procedures and standards.
- Lead/coordinate projects including new installations, upgrades, retrofits, etc.
- Enterprise business and engineering applications support
- Partner with the business to gather requirements and ensure needs are being met.
Required Qualities:
- Intermediate to advanced Windows / Linux administration skills.
- Architecture: Recommends and develops mission critical solutions; makes recommendations to address capacity constraints and performance limitations on a wide range of technologies.
- Excellent documentation and analytical skills.
- Project management: Ability to provide a thorough planning approach to large scale projects. The ability to define physical and logical resources is needed to complete a project and meet deadlines. Experience leading project teams.
- Inter-personal and communication skills: Capable of writing proposals or papers, acting as a supplier liaison, making presentations to customers, clients, and professional peers. Act as a technical leader and mentor.
Technologies / Competencies
Must Have Skills:
- Linux and / or Windows administration
- Virtualization: VMWare / Nutanix
- Backup and recovery: Veeam
Good to Have Skills:
- Hardware installation and management: HP, Dell, Netapp etc.
- Data Center management: Power, rack space, cooling etc.
- Cloud: AWS / Azure
- Storage: NFS, CIFS, iSCSI etc.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Powershell, Python, etc.)
Job Qualifications (Required):
- 8+ years related IT System Administration experience
- 10+ years of IT related experience
- Relevant certifications
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree
- Experience working within the Semiconductor Industry is a plus
- Ability to work independently and in teams reaching high levels of productivity
- Comfortable managing multiple tasks simultaneously
- Demonstrate strong work ethics
