Director of Human Resources – Savage, MN
Road Machinery & Supplies Co. is searching for a Director of Human Resources to join its team at its Savage, MN headquarters. This role will report to the VP of Employee Experience and serve as a strategic business partner to senior leadership and oversee all aspects of HR. This leader will be responsible for building and executing HR strategies that attract, develop, and retain top talent while ensuring compliance with employment laws and fostering an engaging, high-performance workplace.

Responsibilities:
- Partner with senior leadership to design and execute HR strategies that support the company’s goals across all divisions and locations.
- Lead and develop team of two HR Specialists, ensuring consistent HR support for all employees.
- Oversee the full scope of the employee HR life cycle from recruiting and onboarding to performance management and the exit process.
- Provide hands-on support and guidance to managers on employee relations, performance management, and workforce planning.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulatory requirements.
- Manage benefits programs, including leading the annual open enrollment process, ensuring plans remain competitive, and maintaining strong relationships with benefit broker and providers.
- Oversee HR operations and systems, including payroll, HRIS, policies, and processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills:
- 10+ years of HR experience, manager experience is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in business-related field preferred.
- Knowledge of labor relations and union environment strongly preferred.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, including explaining complex information clearly and concisely and mediating disputes.
- Strong organizational skills such as effective time management, establishing priorities, detail orientation, and determination to effectively follow through with tasks and duties.
- Empathetic, approachable, and good judgment under pressure required.
- Experience working with ADP Workforce Now is a plus.
- Able to work responsibly, safely, and intelligently.
- Have the desire to take action, improve, and be appreciative.
- Possess the capability to effectively engage with co-workers and vendors in a respectful manner.
- Ability to work with all levels of an organization.
