The Herron Classical Schools Network (Herron High School, Herron-Riverside High School, and Herron Preparatory Academy) is a Mayor sponsored charter network and a member of the Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) Innovation Network. The Herron Classical Schools network operates with the authority to make decisions about all aspects of our schools and is overseen by its own board of directors. As Innovation schools, we partner with IPS to give students a broader base of resources while maintaining our status as tuition-free charter schools.

Job Summary
Herron Classical Schools seeks a dependable and detail-oriented House Manager to oversee all aspects of event management and custodial operations at Herron Riverside High School. This hybrid role ensures that events are executed seamlessly while facilities remain clean, safe, and welcoming for scholars, staff, families, and guests. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can coordinate logistics, supervise staff/vendors, and step in to perform custodial or setup duties as needed.
Job Responsibilities
Event Management
- Serve as on-site point of contact for all internal and external events.
- Understand exactly how facilities will be utilized, including table/chair setup needs, technology requirements, entrances, and parking considerations.
- Coordinate event logistics including room setups, audio/visual needs, seating arrangements, and catering access.
- Ensure compliance with building safety policies, including fire code occupancy limits and emergency exits.
- Work with other staff as needed to achieve client expectations (e.g., technology support, door monitors, cleaning crew, security).
- Work with outside vendors including caterers, rental companies, and party planners.
- Understand emergency equipment in relation to events, such as AEDs and fire extinguishers, and ensure readiness.
- Arrive before any client-related persons, which may include disarming the alarm system and preparing facilities for guest arrival.
- Remain on-site until final duties are complete, guests have departed, and the building/space is secured.
- Provide professional, welcoming customer service to students, families, staff, and community partners.
- Be prepared to answer questions about Herron Classical Schools and speak promotionally about our programs and mission.
- Debrief appropriate network staff after events, communicating successes, challenges, and facility needs.
- Monitor event spaces during use, promptly addressing issues such as spills, equipment needs, or safety concerns.
- Support breakdown and reset of facilities following events.
Custodial Services
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of school facilities.
- Perform routine custodial tasks including sweeping, mopping, trash removal, sanitization, and restroom restocking
- Monitor cleaning supply inventory and replenishment needs.
Collaboration & Supervision
- Work closely with the Operations team to prioritize event scheduling and custodial coverage.
- Supervise event staff and coordinate volunteer or student helper support.
- Communicate regularly with the Director of Operations regarding facility readiness and custodial needs.
