JOB SUMMARY
Maintain a desired census, payer mix and waiting list, communicate with the community, conduct marketing programs and sales calls with referral sources, travel, speak before groups, and work with referral agencies, organizations, and institutions to promote our services and gain referrals.
The primary responsibilities of this position include conducting sales calls and marketing activities which positively impact the facility census and striving to promote Jennings Terrace as the provider of choice in each community served. This position will also include generating and maintaining a referral base, fielding inquiries and tracking results.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

- Responsible for understanding and consistently following the principles of the Happy to Oblige (H to O) program; oversight and training of the H to O program.
- Communicate and build relationships with potential residents, families, community, and representatives from community agencies and organizations.
- Act as a liaison with area medical groups.
- Attend and participate in in-service educational programs particularly those that relate to the psychosocial needs of the elderly, community resources, and admission requirements.
- Provide education seminars for groups relative to health-care services available.
- Participate in quality-assurance programs including facility appearance tours and front door operations.
- Maintain professional confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines.
- Develop long-range and short-range marketing plans, establishing goals and objectives. Plan, prepare and track results.
- Work with Marketing Department to fulfill advertising/promotional needs of the facility.
- Manage the supply of collateral & promotional items needed to support facility and marketing needs.
- Maintain referral and follow-up data base. Complete the Inquiry Management form (or IRM in Point Click Care).
- Conduct local market/competitive analysis per established standards for the position. Conduct bed rate study and maintain Market & Competitor Information (coordinated with Central Office).
- Conduct marketing calls with local referral sources.
- Complete all necessary forms and documentation.
- Assist with resident financial arrangements related to admissions.
- Work in tandem with Facility Administrators and VP of Marketing & Sales Development to meet performance goals and expectations.
- Work in tandem with DON and/or Nurse Liaison in the Jennings community to coordinate and facilitate excellent customer satisfaction for referral sources, patients, and families.
- Provide tours of the facility and grounds for potential residents, families, community and representatives from placement agencies and organizations.
- Follow up on inquiries and maintain current and active waiting lists.
- Interview applicants for admission and acquire necessary information and documentation.
- Participate in facility committees as assigned.
- Responsible for all admission paperwork and files.
- Responsible for fundraising campaigns.
- Participate in quality assurance programs.
- Responsible for resident satisfaction surveys.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
TRAVEL: Must be able to travel/drive, have a valid driver’s license and meet driving eligibility
guidelines as outlined in Heritage Operations Group Motor Vehicle Operation Policy.
- Office areas and throughout the facility, including tours of the facility and grounds; travel may be required.
- Occasional exposure to loud and unpleasant noises due to unpredictable behaviors of residents.
- Occasional exposure to high humidity due to resident’s option to control their environment.
- Potential visits to hospitals, physician offices, health care providers and other community referral sources and agencies.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- 2 years of college education required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Required attendance of in-services and online training.
- 1-2 years of experience in Sales, Marketing, Public Relations, Customer Service, or
Human Services with a background in Health Care preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Knowledge of community services, different payer sources and various senior topics of interest.
- Ability to articulate Jennings Terrace services and costs per each facility to potential prospects.
- Ability to use Customer Oriented Selling techniques which include listening, questioning and recommending a plan of action for inquiries and/or referral sources.
- Possess strong judgment, utilize effective time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, exhibit strong judgement and work well with others: including staff, residents, families, and community members at large
- Ability to communicate the services of the facility to prospective residents and to the community, speak before large and small groups; be personable and friendly; Must maintain professional image and attire.
- Computer literacy a must.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Occasionally bends/stoops, squats, reaches above the shoulders, and kneels.
- Occasionally lifts 11 to 50 pounds and carries 11 to 24 pounds.
- Frequently pushes/pulls, lifts and carries up to 10 pounds.
- Walks or stands 2 to 3 hours of the 8 hour work day.
- Possess good eye-hand coordination
- Possess necessary skills to continuously comprehend and communicate with residents and staff and to develop written policies and procedures.
- Concentrates on moderate and/or fine detail with frequent interruptions necessary to perform a variety of functions.
- Remembers multiple messages, information and assignments from 8 hours to long periods of time given to self and others.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Ability to remain calm under stress.
