Job Title: AOG Buyer II 

Location: Orlando, FL 

Department: Materials 

Reports To: Senior Manager AOG & Line Materials 

FLSA Status: Exempt 


Summary: National Airlines, a leader in scheduled/on-demand charter and cargo operations worldwide, is seeking a dedicated AOG Buyer II to join our dynamic Materials team. In this role, you will take on an expanded and more advanced responsibility for managing and sourcing aircraft parts and services, with a focus on reducing AOG (Aircraft on Ground) downtime and ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions. The AOG Buyer II is instrumental in managing the procurement of parts, coordinating with various teams, and overseeing the more complex aspects of aircraft maintenance materials management. 


Essential Functions:

  • Advanced AOG Parts Procurement: Independently source and procure critical AOG parts, both from company-owned inventory and external suppliers, to meet immediate operational needs. Handle complex and high-priority AOG cases to ensure minimal aircraft downtime. 
  • Vendor Management & Negotiations: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and manufacturers. Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of parts and services for AOG aircraft. 
  • Coordination with Internal Teams: Collaborate closely with Maintenance Control, Technicians, and the AOG Desk to ensure the correct parts are sourced and delivered in a timely manner, minimizing operational impact. 
  • Part Movement and Logistics Oversight: Oversee the logistics and routing of critical AOG parts, ensuring efficient shipping, forwarding, and tracking to meet tight deadlines. 
  • DMI Management: Manage Deferred Maintenance Item (DMI) parts proactively, working with Maintenance and Materials teams to ensure effective solutions for on-time performance. 
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all AOG parts and procurement processes comply with company policies, FAA regulations, and industry best practices. 
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Regularly analyze procurement data to identify trends, optimize processes, and enhance cost efficiency in sourcing parts. 
  • Training and Mentorship: Provide training, support, and mentorship to junior team members (AOG Buyer I), fostering their growth and development in procurement practices. 
  • Process Improvement: Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance AOG response times and overall efficiency in procurement and inventory management. 

Supervisory Responsibility

  • May provide leadership and guidance to AOG Buyer I team members, ensuring effective training and skill development. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required, bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Aviation Maintenance, or related field preferred. 
  • 3-5 years of experience in AOG procurement or a similar role, with at least 1-2 years in a more senior or lead capacity. 
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft parts and maintenance needs, with the ability to handle complex procurement challenges. 
  • Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and negotiate favorable terms. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret procurement data and make recommendations for process improvement. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other office software. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment. 
  • Effective team player with strong work ethics and a positive attitude. 
  • Ability to take on more complex tasks, overseeing critical procurement decisions, and mentoring junior team members. 

Other Requirements

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required. 
  • Valid Driver's License is required and must meet the National’s insurance standards. 
  • Must pass a background check, including pre-employment drug test, fingerprinting, and criminal history records check (CHRC). 
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use technical manuals to source and procure parts efficiently. 
  • In-depth understanding of AOG procurement systems and processes. 
  • Ability to work effectively with Maintenance, Logistics, and other internal departments to ensure timely part availability. 
  • Proven ability to identify process gaps and implement improvements in AOG parts management. 

Travel/Other Requirements

  • Minimal travel is required, though occasional domestic and international travel may be necessary to visit suppliers or support operations. 

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, telephone, copy machine/printer. 
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work 
  • Heavy physical activity may be required by handling objects up to 70 pounds occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently. 

Work Environment

  • Office/Stockroom 
  • Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required based on the demands of AOG situations.
