About the Department
The Lab Assistant position in the Medical Assisting Program supports the college’s mission of excellence in instruction and student success. This role contributes to instructional delivery, public service, and program-related research that enhances teaching and learning outcomes.
Position Duties
The Lab Assistant will work closely with faculty and staff to prepare and facilitate both lecture and lab activities. Responsibilities include setting up lab materials, maintaining equipment, and assisting with instructional support as needed. A working knowledge of all aspects of the Medical Assisting Program is essential to ensure effective collaboration and continuity across instructional areas.
- Assist faculty and staff in preparing instructional materials and equipment for both lecture and lab sessions.
- Set up, maintain, and clean laboratory spaces and equipment to ensure a safe and efficient learning environment.
- Monitor lab activities to support student learning and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain inventory of lab supplies and notify faculty of needed replenishments.
- Provide general support to Medical Assisting Program personnel, including administrative tasks related to instruction.
- Assist with student engagement during lab sessions, under the supervision of faculty.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies and procedures related to lab operations.
- Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions as required.
- Support program-related events and activities, including tours, advisory board meetings, and recruitment efforts.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum
Associate degree in Medical Assisting or other health related field. Certification as a CMA or related field. Excellent human relations, computer and communication skills.
Preferred
Teaching experience at the post-secondary level and familiarity with Moodle a plus.
