Sample Van Driver - Part-time en Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA)

As a Part-time Sample Van Driver, you’ll work with dairy customers and laboratory personnel via sample van routes. Delivery of samples in coolers weighing up to 60 lbs. along with mail and other items on a regularly scheduled basis. The shift work is scheduled weekly.  However, the start time and routes may vary to accommodate business needs.

The Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA), established in 1916, is a dairy farmer-owned and operated milk marketing cooperative and dairy processor. As the 10th largest dairy cooperative in the U.S., we proudly serve dairy farmers across Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Indiana. With a workforce of around 625 employees spread across four states, MMPA is deeply rooted in the dairy industry. We operate multiple facilities, including the Middlebury Cheese Company in Indiana, Superior Dairy in Ohio, and two SQF Level 3 dairy ingredient plants in Michigan. Our product lineup includes fluid milk, cheese, ultra-filtered milk, ice cream, butter, nonfat dry milk, cream, and condensed skim milk.

Key Responsibilities:

• Picks up and delivers milk samples for official and special testing from dairies to laboratory testing sites.
• Maintains sample temperatures between 32- and 40-degrees Fahrenheit via monitoring at each pickup and at delivery.
• Records and reports sample cooler and sample TC temperatures.
• Delivers or picks up lab supplies, sample vials, mail, and other items as requested by management.
• Maintains complete and accurate reports of weekly activity for review and discussion with supervisor.  
• Maintains vehicle in good operating condition by scheduling maintenance work and routine service at regular intervals.  Major repairs are only with supervisory review and approval.
• Adhering to assigned routes and following time schedules.
• Abiding by all transportation laws and maintaining a safe driving record.
• Perform other duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For:

• Valid driver's license issued by the state where you intend to work.
• Clean driving record.
• Special licenses may be required to operate certain vehicles.
• Experience may be required or preferred.
• Willingness to adhere to assigned routes, schedules, safety procedures, and transportation laws.
• Strong time management and customer service skills.
• Ability to walk, drive, and lift and carry heavy items for extended periods.
• Ability to independently pick up and move from the ground to waist height up to 30, sixty-pound coolers filled with ice and samples in a shift.
• Attention to detail, high integrity and use of sound judgement.
