Technical Project Manager
Remote/Local to the Washington, DC Metro Area
Overview:
Softtek Government Solutions is actively searching for a seasoned Technical Project Manager to join our federal technology services consulting practice. We are looking for a consummate professional that can confidently lead and manage an agile software development team for supporting a high-profile U.S. Federal government agency. You should have enthusiasm for driving teams to deliver high-quality software. We are looking for someone that has knowledge of both agile (Scrum, Kanban, Lean, etc.) and traditional (PMP, Prince, etc.) project management skills. You should have prior experience working for Federal government customers. You will work remotely, but please reside within commuting distance of downtown Washington, DC.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team composed of software developers, database developers, software testers, and system administrators to maintain and enhance existing custom software applications.
- Manage the team to deliver software sustainment and development services.
- Manage development plans, backlogs, schedules, releases, metrics, reports.
- Anticipate customer needs by building and maintaining a trusted advisor relationship.
- Communicate with stakeholders to understand mission objectives and refine requirements.
- Guide the team through ambiguity to gain clarity on requirements & acceptance criteria.
- Coach team members to obtain optimal results aligned to customer expectations.
- Drive adherence to both Agile principles and customer change management processes.
- Lead daily meetings, backlog grooming, sprint planning, acceptance testing, and retrospectives.
- Identify, analyze, and mitigate project risks and track project issues to resolution.
- Plan and coordinate software releases with appropriate stakeholders.
- Manage project estimation, financials, invoicing, and reporting.
- Support staff recruiting, onboarding, and disciplinary processes.
- Produce Monthly Status Report (MSR) deliverable that describes progress, issues, and metrics.
- Produce After Action Reports (AAR) that document incident resolution and preventive actions.
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field (or commensurate experience)
- One or more relevant certifications (e.g., SCRUM, SAFe, PMI, etc.)
Required Experience:
- 6+ years of experience managing software development projects/programs
- 3+ years of experience developing software on Microsoft stacks (C# .NET, IIS, SQL Server).
- Experience working with project management tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps, Project)
- US Citizenship
Required Clearance:
- Must be eligible to obtain a Top-Secret clearance
